So how will the year go politically and in world news? I will start it off and hope others join in.

I think it will be a a huge year on the world stage. I think Israel takes out Iran's nuclear facility. I hope this is not the case as I fear the consequences of such actions, but I think Israel is tired of waiting for Obama to gain results through diplomacy. Israel fears a nuclear Iran and won't let it happen.

Really the news about Yemen is unsurprising and will continue on into 2010. Yemen has been a hotbed of activity for years and I'm surprised its gotten no attention until now.

Like I said, I'd like to hear predictions from everybody here. Cheers.

This time next year the world will be just as fucked up as it is now, only I'll be older and may not notice it so much.

Interesting as Don's comment is, I'm gonna ignore it. Gotta say it doesnt surprise me, though.

Kiddies, we are living in historic times. I cannot emphasize that enough. The main thing that makes peoples' heads hurt is that events are occurring so fast and furious.

First: Votes have consequences. Churchill said "Democracy is a terrible way to govern, but it's way ahead of what's in second place."

Well, NOW we're gonna see the consequences of votes. And the fatheaded beltway idiots who thought the had gotten the better of the 'GrassRoot voter' are going to find the fraud aint easy as it looks.

What makes it a setup for the perfect storm is that Obama was clearly and legally elected without the vote fraud from his neighborhood thug bunch making it suspect. He is our President plain and simple.

Next, the Dems have all the votes they need to pass anything that clearly benefits the US citizen.

The FACT that the whore from Nebraska is now behind his prospective GOP challenger, 30-60, for the next election speaks loads. Even more, the fact that polls show only 17% of Nebraskans are in favor of getting that sweet deal for themselves says even more. And it doesnt matter that's a Rasmussen poll. Add 10 or 15% if you want... still says the same.

Now we have 'moderate' pundits switching their views on the 'Tea Party' effect but NOW they say it needs LEADERSHIP to be effective.
    Hoot!
It HAS its leadership. And the leaders say 'Dont mind me.. I'm just saying what I think, you do as you want.'

Second: Foreign Policy is a dirty business to begin with, but it only has a chance of succeeding if the policies are outlined plain and simple. There has to be a coherent strategy.

The prosecution of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan was never in serious doubt, no matter what some of the some Ivory Tower Libs thought they heard from the campaign stump. It might have been different if Bush had continued to adhere to the Powell/Bremer paradigm but he didnt. Despite the rhetoric, Obama inherited an Iraq war 98% won. Thanks to Petraus & co.

But the BAD part of our foreign policy is the apologia laid down to the rest of the world for our previous 'benign but boorish' world stage behavior. It initially was lauded but second thoughts on the part of the 'world intelligentsia' has some of them saying... 'hey, wait a minute.. does this mean you're gonna hang us out to dry?!!'

Look for some backtracking on the part of State Dept. Cautious slow and not for publication.
    {I aint even getting into what many of those other world leaders think of our president, personally}

Third: Domestic Issues. There are three major; Health Care Reform, Carbon Taxing/AGW, and Card Check.

Health Care Reform is passed but is gonna get gutted more than it already is. Already people are complaining that their 2010 health plan costs 25% more than for 09. That isnt going to get better.
When it becomes clear exactly WHY that is, support for government meddling will drop even more. When it becomes clear that it is mainly government meddling, by state mandated services, that caused the high prices of the last decade we have even MORE recruitment for Tea Party gatherings.
And just wait till Joe Voter figures out that even when Govt Payer arrives it will be the same people managing it as does now with the Insurance Companies.

Carbon Tax. Dead in the water for 2010 as legislation.

But hey, 'We dont need no stinking legislation.. we got the EPA!! And the EPA sez 'We gonna tax your asses till you do the right thing and get on that damn bicycle and bus! and turn off those fucking yard lights and quit buying 50 inch TVs!'

I look for someone to file a lawsuit aimed at getting the USSC to rethink and overturn that stupid decision to label CO2 as a pollutant.

And there will be major informative REAL SCIENCE disclosure proving CO2 has almost NO EFFECT on 'Global Warming'.. if it is warming. And if we cut CO2 90% right now, there would be no effect.
    - The MSM MAY even address that by the end of the year. If so, look for after the election.

    Card Check {that's so's you can shoehorn unions into any employer without secret ballot, just by paying the workers a friendly visit at their houses.}
I'm waiting for SOMEONE to come up with the perfect political ad on this. Because Card Check aint just about getting the UNION in. It's about VOTING in ELECTIONS. Couple those thugs coming to your door and getting SEIU installed THEN presenting those union worker with absentee paper, conveniently filled out, just sign here.
I think you'll see that ad in 2010, and the usual suspects will be howling, of course.

Domestic Security: There will be more terror attempts, foreign and domestic. Some will succeed. We been lucky so far, plus the security folks generally do better than you'd think.

I'm looking for the paradigm to shift a little more and locals in the middle east to take it more into their hands.

Dunno how that will happen but, vicariously, I'd get a big kick out it if some Yemeni's stormed their local 'Welcome to Al Quaeda' meeting, beat everyone inside to a bloody pulp and buried 'em heads down in pits filled with hog shit.

    but that's just me.

Same to you and yours, Don

Now, back to 'Interesting Times'. It's HIGHLY ENTERTAINING.

Except for things like Senate kills GOP's D.C. vouchers bid

Well, THERE you have it. The REAL Democrat message has gotten through now to many in DC... Wont take long for the Tea Parties to become a little more diverse.
    --------------------------------------------------

If you need a hard and fast prediction, I look to Hillary Clinton to either resign from State or take a larger role.
The few times she's been in the spotlight she's caught flack for some pretty serious gaffes and foibles. Some things she's said would have made fodder for days if Sarah had said them

The woman is not that stupid, thus I have the feeling she's been kneecapped by her own 'staff' several times.

Since she's in a dead heat tie with Sarah for 'Most Admired Woman', dont look for her to stay silent or for Bill to let her.

    '10 Crystal ball

Well, THAT reflects an easy to make 2010 prediction, only good for this site though. I'll opine on the issues. Don, having no opinion, will attack me for saying something.

Hmmm... Health Care 'Reform' may be dead, after all.
Rangel: Health Care Talks Stalled, Facing ‘Serious Problem’
Rangel is a smart pol! He's sowing the seed here.

While others are saying that Republicans 'fear' the Dems may put off Brown's seating if he wins in MA, the reality would point to Dems not being stupid. Which they arent.

The perfect out to avoid political disaster in Nov is for the bill to fail resolution. And then the Dems can claim that the nasty repugnicans killed it by failing to participate or offer alternatives in defining the bill.

Total lie, of course but old practices are hard to give up.

So.. the US Chamber of Commerce has started rolling the ball on that.Naturally the Green Pigs are squealing bloody murder that a business consortium might try to protect the economy.
And at the rate the wheels are falling off the 'settled science' of AGW..
"More snow caused by global warming" vs "Less snow caused by global warming" by our 'educated and informed lord high masters of politics..
We also have "Less fog caused by global warming" as opposed to previous "More fog on way due to global warming"..
    Also:
    - Interesting group of Dem joiners, wot? Refer to the 'big payoff' suspects on Health Care Reform and Tea Party interest in them.

PettyFog. Dude - if you're going to quote Churchill, you've GOT to get it right.

The correct quote is: “It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.”

2010: Clintonistas to mole into Tea Party

BigGovernment has inside info that James 'Skeletor' Carville is planning to subvert one or more of the large grassroots orgs.
    - H/T Ace

This will, of course, be found out but the elito-socialists will then stop recording events and continue to parrot the talking points.

I suggest, in related events, that the PUMA's will finally wake up and realize that Hillary and Sarah are not on the same side.
