Geez, I looked at my post and it's loaded with even more "fucks" than usual. Sorry, but I don't feel like throwing up when this happens, but feel like throwing the remote through the tv and breaking some bones. Limp Bizkit's "Break Stuff" comes to mind.

Oh and the red was probably for goal scoring opportunity. The ref was probably right.

How can a train be packed to the gills, I mean the fucking gills at 1130 on a Thursday night going to Reading!

The turning point for me in this game came when bobby went off and we slipped into defensive mode either purposely or otherwise. The sending off did not help the cause obviously.

On a positive note the cottage was rocking the full 92 minutes and 40 seconds and full, up to the rafters. And then.... absolute silence.

I don't remember this happening at the game, but it feels like somebody kicked me in the balls. To quote ffc.... Fuck!

The red was ludicrous, penalty sure, but not a red. Even if it was the "last man" rule, there was a box full of people and the player, in no way, had a clear shot at goal. Further, the ref initially showed the card to the wrong player (Hangman). It was a fucked up and cost Fulham 2 points.

Yeah, you're probably right. Riise didn't have a clear sight at goal and it should've been a penalty only.

Not sure it completely changed things though as we were already pretty negative beforehand and stayed that way afterwards.

Also, Baird needs to learn how to do something offensively. While he's absolutely brilliant at breaking up plays and doing dirty work, he doesn't do much of anything going forward. Would like to see something going forward.

This one hurt. Sadly, I missed the first 40 minutes which by all accounts were better than the last 40. Schwartzer was simply amazing. I'm still boggled by the red card. The penalty should have been given, but if the Ref couldn't even identify who committed the foul, should he really have given a red card? He clearly didn’t see the play clearly. This left me scratching my head. To give one up in the dying seconds always makes it worse.

On another note: That was the worst commentary I've ever heard in along time. It was honestly painful at times to listen to.

I'm with you on this. I don't get what people see in Ray Hudson, he spends way too much time rambling about god knows what irrelevant crap and way too little time actually analyzing. I think Ernie Hudson might be better.

I was disappointed in having Spanish commentary, but maybe I should be grateful.

Think Roy wishes he had that Pantsil sub back? He was terrible tonight. It looked like Schwarzer was in position to possibly make the play on the goal, but JP headed it over him.

While Baird contributes little offensively, Greening contributes little of anything. To be fair, he wasn't bad in the first half, but how many times did he vacate the middle in the 2nd? Between he and Gera, I'd like to see a moritorium on Baggies coming to the Cottage for a while.

As for the good, and despite the negative play in the 2nd half (and last 20 minutes in particular) there was a fair bit of good. Schwarzer was amazing. The team as a whole outworked and outhustled Roma and took the game to them in the first half. Bob had a good game. I just wish he'd learn he can't hold the ball in the box forever. Holding it up and laying off is great, but if no one is there for the layoff, he's got to make some space and shoot as opposed to waiting for the d to take the ball off of him. Riise had a good first half as well before disappearing in the 2nd.

Hanging on for the win would have been amazing, but instead this feels like Spam all over again. At least we didn't pull an Everton.

    Because his one-liners are incredible.

"This Belgian referee is waffling all over the place" he said about the confusion regarding the ref sending off Hangeland but then rightfully changing his mind to Kelly. How doesn't that make you smile?

And then compare it to FSC's YYYEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH, or the other networks that scream at you. Or, if you really want some awful announcing, the local networks covering MLS ("FC Dallas unable to clear the puck"). Or just turn on SportsCenter.

I have to agree with the "Hudson was terrible" comments. Not to mention, GolTVs lack of basic research. "Hodgson hired when Cookie Coleman's magic wore off"!?!? Yeah, I know we all want to forget the Lawrie Sanchez era, but a 5 second Google search would've gotten the facts straight. Not to mention they confused Konchesky and Kelly for a good 20 minutes in the 1st half. I could excuse it if they looked anything alike (like Riise and Nevland do), but bald vs. hair is pretty darn easy to pick out!

The red card was legit - foul from behind qualifies.

Look, I know the injury time goal is painful, but honestly, Roma deserved at least a point out of the game. They came out like gangbusters in the 2nd half and, even before Bobby came off, they were dominating possession. I'm not sure how much more our healthy A team could've done. They were applying aggressive high pressure and none of our guys had any time on the ball.

    Random Comments:

I thought Greening had the best half of football (in the 1st) that he's had in a Fulham kit.

I loved how 'lil brother Riise outran and out muscled his big brother in the 1st half.

I loved how Brede is respected enough that even Kelly was up there telling the ref, "No, I'm the one who fouled him."

This is only the second time I've knowingly heard Hudson's commentary. And while he had me cracking up, I was more laughing at him than with him. About the old Fulham crest he said something like, "it had swords and everything". And then they both went on and on about "Greening's long legs". For one, Greening's legs dont look long. They sounded like infatuated boys. I was embarassed for them. But it was funny.

Also agree about the undeserved red. But what do you expect, we were playing and Italian side . . . can you say "pay off".

"Hey line official, you're kind of pretty for a guy. I know some big fellas just out of prison that would like to spend some time with you if Hangeland doesnt get a red card. Here take this as a token of my appreciation"

it was a yellow not a red on the sole reason that he was not the last man. It was a definite penalty and schwartzer came up big.

Greening was good but rubbish all at the same time I counted about 4 to 5 back passes that were directly to roma players that resulted in a counter attack. It looked like both teams were playing to keep fresh for the weekend.

Frankly if kamara could finnish we should have been up 2-0 that defensive shell produced a number of decent counters which is what its supposed to do.

all in all a good game and a kick in the teeth at the end. These european nights are fun but I prefer 3 points in the epl to this and staying up this year. We have got two tough games ahead of us in the league before a stretch of winable games. We'll be lucky if we get 1 point from the next 6.

Hudson is a brilliant commentator. I'd rather have a guy who's hilarious and makes mistakes than somebody who's completely serious. It adds excitement to the game.

Missed most of the match, and mercifully the ending. A big positive is scoring off a set piece (we haven't even been threatening on those).

While it was a West Ham like gut wrencher, how cool was it to see our crest (no matter if you prefer that or the old one) next to Roma's on TV??

Would like to hear from someone who was there, what the atmosphere was like.

I think the reason why we scored off a set piece was because Riise was delivering balls of the highest quality into the box. Even then it took 6 or 7 corners to score, which is worrying to say the least.

Riise is somebody that I've liked when I've seen him play. Very talented and great at corners. The thing about him though is that he completely disappears after halftime.

Yeah, I could do without both the rambling AND the bad puns.

The more I think about it, the more I think the red card was the wrong call. Kelly wasn't the last man, but even if he had been, the red card for the last man is (as I understand it) only supposed to be given outside the box because inside the box the penalty is sufficient compensation for the foul by the last man. And while it was from behind (sort of), it wasn't violent enough to qualify for a red card on that basis. So yeah, I don't see how the red was warranted. :|
