Allow me the honor of starting this one. They're reeling a bit, and we're treading water. And although there's no reason to be overly optimistic, I see a long overdue, old fashioned butt whoopin' by our lads. 4-1 Whites, Berba goes off on them with a brace and assists Baird and Hugo on the others. AND. And, we put up a friggin' stone wall for Schwarzer for a change, although they get on, lucky, questionable goal via another poor call by the ref.

'Chelsea are a big club with fantastic players, and every manager wants to coach such a big team, but I would never take that job.'

'If Chelsea are naive and pure than I'm Little Red Riding Hood.'

'We don't need top give our away fans flags to wave. our (Liverpool) supporters are there with their hearts, and that is all we need.' - On Chelsea supporters.

All quotes from Rafa Benitez, the current 'interim' manager of the Scum. The home supporters were hardly welcoming yesterday, and here is opportunity for our boys. If we can avoid falling behind early. Somehow get a lead and the fans will be all over Rafa. Obviously the team has to play a helluva lot better than they did at Stoke. Even though Dejagah adds an athletic element sorely missing, Damien Duff is such a professional footballer that his presence needs to be on the pitch more. The team has played fairly well there the last couple of seasons, and our away support will be in full voice, so fingers crossed we can sneak out a result.

I'd have to imagine the reason Duff didn't start this weekend is that Jol wanted him ready to go the full 90 vs the Scum.

On their end, I suppose there are two ways to respond to adversity...it could galvanize them and give them extra motivation to go out and prove their quality. Or they could be a reeling mess.

On our end, a big away win would go a long ways to renewing confidence after a couple shakey performances.

For those of us working at home, working shift work, or just shiftless retirees, this match can be "enjoyed" LIVE on Wednesday at 1330 on Fox Soccer Channel. My plans are to watch in tandem with my joyful near neighbor. There will be SOME kind of report shortly after the final whistle -- or not, depending on how much beer is quaffed to accompany the pizza that will be arriving.

I think we're going to get our asses handed to us, but what the fuck ... it's Fulham and that's the way it is.

If I can get my "work" done, I will be in the Chat for the first 60 - 70 min or so. Not expecting anything from this, but will gladly take whatever we can get from the scum and their buffoon of a coach. COYW.

Joe, thanks for providing the quotes . . . very nice :ugeek:

Sadly, I shall not be in the Lower Shed end for this fixture as I was last Boxing Day, or at home Easter Monday night when a dubious call on a slippery pitch conspired to rob Our Glorious Whites of far more value than two dropped points. Having attended two of our past three matches, I feel we will acquit ourselves more fully on Fulham Road than against Stoke City or Sunderland. Our opponents lack a clear aerial threat and as such Baird at CB and Diarra at CM behind either Sidwell or Karagounis will give us better shape and attacking fluidity. More to the point, if there are any Fulham in Phoenix Arizona that might fancy watching the match with me, please send me a private message, and I will reciprocate with a complementary copy of the latest TOOFIF, direct from Stevenage Road, for your trouble and my pardon.

I can't think of any other scenario at this point - be it a defeat by 1 goal or 4 goals. A shaky midfield and keeper, combined with the injury / suspension woes and I don't predict anything from this match. I long to be wrong but as Mr. Davies sang (and Dave Roth wailed), "where have all the good times gone..."

The circus going on at chelsea right now should give us a good shot at a result...under other circumstances. With our injuries and form though, I'm doubtful and think Don and Nev are probably right.

Hopefully we turn it around tomorrow somehow.

This makes we wish I lived in Phoenix. SFM I hope you are in Cleveland for a match someday so I can watch it with you, FUSA's resident poet.

Finally happy with a point! Great way to defend your asses off for 70 minutes and put them under pressure for the last quarter or so of the game. Considering the lineup and the injuries, I thought even this Chelsea team would destroy us. It was us who could have actually won it towards the end of the game.

Can Frei please stay with the first team? He only had one piece of bad play, but set up some chances and looked really good. Earned a start against Spurs if I was the manager.

Got home in time to watch second half w/the rest of the chat room. We loved seeing the Undead fans leaving early and the ones that stayed booing at the end. A point is a great result, but had our chances JAR with a great opportunity set up by Karagounis he mangled, but came back with a great shot Cech saved that was set up by Frei (how great was it to see him back?). Fantastic support by our fans, now on to the much anticipated Tottenham match. Not dancing banana worthy, but still worth a huge

Let's hope. Till he came on we missed a true LMF badly. We had chances, but they had a lot more. Thank goodness Torres is still off form and for Rafa leaving Mata on the bench for as long as he did. We dropped out of the top half but still happy with the point.

I've been working all day, but glad for the point. I've fancied Frei since last season. He should have stayed up. The kid's got energy and above average dribbling skills. If he doesn't stick now, it's a crime. How'd we look?

    Completely agree.

Also agree with those who said the Fulham support was top notch. Great to hear! I hope you guys dont ban me for this, but I also have to say that I have been enjoying the Chelsea supporters the last few games with their "Benetiz Out" and "DiMatteo to Stay" chants and banners.

Just finished watching the replay. For me, the first 2/3s of the game was like watching paint dry. Passing the ball around the perimeter or losing the ball any time we got near the final third. There was the odd chance, here and there, that was, of course, wasted. I agree that Frei did provide a spark that revved the match up in the last 20 minutes.
Even though we got a point away to the scum, I cannot frickin believe we have a corner with less than a minute to go in stoppage time, and we don't send it in to try to win the match. As happened, we were going to give up another chance in the last minute to the blue poo anyway, WHY NOT TRY TO WIN THE DANG MATCH!!!
Damn I miss Bocanegra and Dempsey...

As I tried to listen to GJ at work, it was ineffectual. However, I did hear the call on the corner and thought a ball into the box (rather than Berbatov walking back to the flag) was begging. Pleased with a point. Frei needs to stay with the club...and PLAY.

While Fulham and chelsea played mundanely, Don & I watched it brilliantly. Excellent beer will make a lot of things look better in hindsight. And that's how it goes with this match. It's a point on the road at chelsea and I had a good time....forgot about the rest.
