Happy Thanksgiving

Always like to hear about what people are doing (or not doing) for Turkey Day. We're hosting, and the numbers keep increasing (22 at the moment), so in full preparation mode. Have a great one everybody.

 

Good thread idea Joe. I need some distraction from all the cleaning, shopping, and Thanksgiving dinner preparations. Three of my brothers are in town, but only one of my kids' cousins amongst them. We will only have 9 people, very doable, as long as we can manage to keep the three teenage boys continuously fed. They dont seem to ever stop eating. In addition to Thanksgiving dinner, our festivities will include yard work, catching the James Bond film, watching Notre Dame football, watching soccer (as much as we can manage without making our guests unhappy), my kids soccer games, and probably some good arguments.

What is everyone eating? Anything adventurous, non traditional? My menu is very standard, I'm not allowed to depart from the traditional meal. The only thing we will have that is remotely different is a clam chowder and I'll serve a cranberry salsa along side the traditional cranberry sauce to spice things up. If I have time, I will surprise my husband with a key lime pie; he's growing a lime tree and is looking forward to using the limes.

Happy Thanksgiving! Just a quiet one this year - in laws, sis in law and my immediate family. We'll have the traditional dishes, but we always incorporate some Persian grub as well - good stuff.

 

Doing a late Thanksgiving celebration this year on Saturday, coupled with the OSU-Michigan game. Should be a good time! I'm not traveling back home though, staying local for the 2nd year in a row.

 

Just spending the Day here in San Antonio with my immediate family (Dad, sis, nephew) and gorging on our traditional fare. I'll be doing most of the cooking. Meeting up with some friends for Shiners and the TCU/Horn game that evening. I'll be the only one rooting for the Frogs.

 

I just got back from my Thanksgiving dinner (which -- for some strange reason is Wednesday evening, not on Thursday -- don't ask). A small one (7 people total) and I only got pissed off at one cousin who said I really should have kids (sore subject). I can forgive him, though, as 1-) he was rather drunk and 2-) he has MS, so he does not make a whole lotta sense most of the time. Not even my mentioning DiMatteo's sacking could change the subject.

I did try to see the Macy's balloons being blown up before dinner (my family lives by the parade route), but there were SO many people that I had to think better of it. Ah, well.
