trying to look on the optimistic side here....and maybe this 'stat' is not relevant at all.....however, looking at their home and away results so far vs the same teams last year (of course, subbing out the relagated and replacing them)....they are even on pts at this stage. [of course, with more cometitive games played]

...i think it's going to take time to see where they 'really' are.
...esp given the increase workload and how the allocate playing time.

So the game ended about 6 hours ago, and the match thread is STILL only about 1.5 pages long.

There have been only six posts today by five posters. Despite the fact that our "recent" post list maxes out at 7 threads, we still have some FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON. Where's the passion? Where's the iterest?

Will the last person to leave FulhamUSA.com please turn out the light?

well, the only excuse i can think of is that it was rosh hashanah.

i missed the live and replay of the match. currently waiting for MOTD, but doubt there will be much to see.

so, really, was it THAT bad? from what i've been reading it seems worse than the Wigan 2007 spring match.

    mamma mia?

it was rather awful all around for the whites. embarrassingly, wolves looked a class above fulham for large portions of the match. less said about this performance, the better.

Sorry to miss the game, between student teaching and family commitments, I missed the whole thing.

Maye that was for the better.

My two cents are this -- first, we lost on the road for teh first time in the last three years, I believe. Seriously, sometimes that happens and there isn't much you can do about it.

    Four or five goals? Please.

I liked John's post, whatever he had to drink, send one down my way.

Well I expected much more since Woy wested most of the starters for the Europa game. I only saw the first half due to other soccer commitments, but they did look awful in what I saw of the first half. They really need more variety.

A little too early to panic but I am not too happy with our inability to attack. :?

alright saw MOTD2 and yeah we were really bad. i think there was one highlight in our favor all recap?

and for those worried about relegation: calm down. last season we were being outplayed and what we all assumed was out-thought by blackburn and westbrom. in fact, they both shut us out.

    roy knows best.

and also, will the pundits SHUT UP ABOUT THE EUROPA LEAGUE AND ASSUMING ANY LOSS IS BECAUSE OF IT. QUIT BEING LAZY AND WATCH THE GAMES.

Sorry Hatter - it is hard to come up with much to say. I think the review show's quote from Roy summed it up: "The players just didn't look themselves."

I would agree. I was at church so I watched it on DVR, and I skipped thru most of it.

I don't know that it is anything to worry about. 3-4 matches like this and it may be time to panic.

Timmy, assuming that pundits would quit being lazy is a lot to ask...

Woke up early this morning and was still smarting from this one. And the Steelers horking away the Bears game. Bring on al-Citeh -- nice to see they horked away a golden opportunity this weekend themselves.

Jensers, this IS the 4th match this season that was like this. Some would say 5th as the Portsmouth game wasn't really anything to write home about either. We've really struggled all season to score goals and most games they look really really bad goingg forward. Wolves weren't the first team to shut us down.

Roy is at fault for some of this. He continues to play Duff on the right and expects something different to happen. I really don't understand this. Dempsey plays on the right for the USMNT and used to play there for us and Duff is a natural left footer. It makes no sense.

You're just ignoring the facts. If any other team would put 4 or 5 goals past Wolves then why has no other team actually done so? Why did Man City, with all their attacking talent, score a grand total of one goal?

4 or 5 was post match exaggeration, I will admit, but that doesn't defeat the point that Wolves were utter shit when balls were flying into the box and we were absolute shit at exploiting that weakness. I haven't watched Wolves much this season, but yesterday they were crap at defending balls into the box and if they played like that against another team, that team would've done better at exploiting that weakness.2 goals were achievable at the very least.

We had a bad game, and still almost got a point.

FFC24. :sigh: Roy play Dempsey on the left and Duff on the right because it allows them to cut inside and use their stronger foot. His system is to have the fullbacks provide the width, not his midfield.

Before we go all gloom and doom, let's remember a few things.
    1. Our offense wasn't good on the road last season either, we still got 7th.
    2. We've already won on the road once this season; it usually takes us most of a season to get that monkey off our backs.

We'll be fine, we won't be in relegation trouble, but we won't make 7th again. This year, 10th would be a good year, 8th would be a miracle. This has nothing to do with Fulham and everything to do with how much the teams around us have spent.

I understand what Roy is trying to do, but so far Duff looks like he doesn't belong in league football while playing over on the right. When something doesn't work, you change the system a bit. You don't put Duff on the right and hope he works through the problems.

If we had players like Ribery or Ronaldo, then the system works because those players are comfortable on either side. However we don't and we never will and therefore you have to work with the players you have. He wasted Gera on the left and now he's wasting Duff's talent.

    Greetings from sunny Weatherford TX.

Not that I've had much time to pay attention to soccer, let alone watch it in the last few weeks, in fact I couldnt even watch the Crew Fire match yesterday, but it's still early in the season and every season needs some sorting out before the cream rises to the top.

Poor starts just add to the drama. And satisfaction. Wait until at least January to write of top of mid pack chances.

Hard to comment since I screwed up the time and turned on the computer when it went final. Obviously, this was poor performance from a rested squad, so fans venting or even being apathetic is to be expected.

Not going to worry how the reserves do on Wed. at Citeh, but will look closely to seeing how we play against Arse this upcoming weekend.

I will agree that things have not looked solid, but you have to expect it to a certain degree. The outside mids play a very important role in the system and bringing in someone new has caused some issue.

I will agree that scoring goals is a problem. Z is crappola, but I dont know that we have a better option.

Kamara should be starting. He tore that Wolves defense apart a couple of times. Last season he did really well when both Zamora and AJ went down with injury. I'd like to see what he can do with a run of games.
