Don. I agree - I would love to see an Altidore-Ghilas pairing for Hull; many similarities with Altidore-Davies. While the defense is in shambles right now, Sonko isn't bad so should settle with time, raising them from horrible to poor and when Bullard comes back, he should help with distribution to the forwards.

Best part about Hull City's probably relegation: they won't want to spend the 6.5M GBP to buy Altidore, leaving him available to go to a better club the next year.

I almost wish Altidore would go join the growing number of Americans playing in France's Ligue 1. Tactics are taught better.

He would be lucky to fall for a club like Charlie Davies did where they are constantly a midlevel club who loves grooming young strikers before selling them to bigger French clubs or bigger clubs in other countries. Davies got a great deal there.

Phil Brown's an ass; we all know it. I suspect he made a deal with the devil last season which only served to prevent the inevitable, and yet predictably, confirm to the rest of us that he has no soul. Hopefully, when he's gone (not if), Jozy will be given a clean slate by the new manager, and thereafter, impress (especially given his competition) and earn considerable PT throughout the season's remainder.

Barring massive upgrades, Hull's going down this time around. Adios.

    lol... Good stuff.

Yes - Brown is in trouble. I have done some reading on Hull - I kind of like the history of the area and some of the background of the club. I hope they can get it sorted and do well... And also give Jozy some more minutes!

For further proof I'm a masochist I actually looked at the Hull-Pompey match report and stats. Dreadful to say the least (0-0 w/a total of 3 shots on goal) then I noticed that Jozy wasn't on the bench (figured he picked up a knock in training), then comes a WTF moment...

Jozy was late! (not the match itself, but the time he was supposed to get there). Don't know any details, but this is severly disappointing. If he wants first team football, he needs to be the first one at there and the last one to leave.

Don't want to sound like an old fart i.e.'what's wrong with the kids today', but this generation of US players; Benny, Freddy, and Bradley's attitude, Edu going to a Jay-Z concert instead of a Rangers game, and now this?? A trend that is beginning to piss me off!!!

BBC's "Live feed" included a quote from jozy's Twitter account to the effect: "I was late. I made a terrible mistake. I am very very sorry."

Obviously, the lad has no future in politics.

According to FSC's Premiere League Review last night, Brown fined Jozy -- not for being late, but for talking about club business on Twitter.

Our best recent reminder that Jozy is still a kid with a lot of maturing to do. I think he's well and truly in Brown's dog house now. It'll be surprising if we see much of him through November.

He deserves to be in the doghouse, and if I were Phil Brown (now that's a thought!) I'd tell Jozy to #$&* off for a while. His club is in a relegation fight and then he "tweets" (seriously, WTF is this shit and the narcissism oozed by such a contraption is astonishing) about his tardiness?

It's simply inexcusable to show up late as a professional, barring some unforeseen accident or tragedy.

Now, I'm off to mix iodine into my self-tanning liquid and purchase a new phone earpiece...

What Phil Brown doesn't get is that Jozy's motives for twitting were to save his manager getting a bunch of stick by not selecting him for the 18.

Jozy tweets: Stupid kid, get your butt in gear! Kudos to Brown for sticking to his guns.

Jozy says nothing: Phil Brown, you stupid moron, you don't even put your best striker on the bench!!! Did you get your license out of a CrackerJack box!?!?!

    Oh, and PS...

Brown should get fired and Hull automatically relegated for that crap display put on Saturday. Same with Hart and Portsmouth.

When they panned to the SkySports broadcaster on Soccer Saturday I'm pretty sure he was asleep and snoring.

Jozy had a REALLY good game against Everton last night. He brought the best out of Timmy on two occasions (the first Hull goal was off the rebound from one of those saves), was fouled 2 or 3 times in dangerous locations, held up the ball well and pressurized the back four.

On one occasion, he took the ball on his chest in the box, against two defenders, turned them and got a close range shot on goal. It went down as Save of the Match.

SkySports gave him an 8 rating.

Glad to hear Jozy made a nuisance of himself.

Skysports web-customers (i.e., fans, readers) rated Jozy the best player on the pitch in the ever so boring game vs. ManCity. Admittedly, it was only a 6.9, but he's getting some notice.

I put myself through two bouts of agony recently -- on Sunday I watched Hull v. Man U; today I watched some of Hull v. Bolton. Why? I wanted to watch Jozy play.

Here's what I saw in 75 or so minutes on Sunday and 55 or so minutes today:

    1. Jozy is still quick.
    2. Jozy can make space for himself
    3. Jozy is not afraid to shoot.
    4. Jozy wins a lot of free kicks.
    5. The reason he wins those kicks is because he gets run over by defenders as a result of his being incapable of getting the ball out from under his feet unless he slows to a crawl or stops.
    6. When playing with his back to goal, Jozy has a chest and two feet made out of cinderblock. He wins plenty of balls but his layoffs are only about 15% accurate. 95% of them come too fast and 99% of them are incapable of being received by a teammate without the guy slowing down or actually turning back.
    7. If Jozy is our main strike hope this summer, it's three and out for us. He has NOT improved any for Hull as near as I can see.

I was actually glad that he was subbed shortly after the beginning of the 2nd half. I turned off the TV rather than suffer the pain of watching Bolton win.

I saw the ManU game and while I wouldnt be as harsh, I mostly agree. He still needs work and I'm not sure if he knows that. No doubt he could learn a thing or two at FFC

Yeoman's work, Don. Was curious myself and read the write-up on Soccernet. One of the pluses I imagine, is Jozy's confidence for playing in what is considered by many as the toughest league in the world. I just don't picture Hull as a place to refine one's talents.

Hats off to Ireland's Stephen Hunt though.

Frankly, Hunt and Jaskellinan [sp?] looked the only two players on the pitch who were of Prem quality -- and I didn't see either of Hunt's goals.

Jozy's problem at Hull is that he's not a target striker, but they think he is. He's never been a good lay-off guy. If he plays with his back to goal, it's for a quick 1-2 or to turn his defender and go for goal.

That's why Bob played him alongside Ching so much.

He needs the ball delivered to him 3 to 4 yards in front of him so he can run onto it. Balls TO his feet just confuse him. I agree that target striker is not his best position, but I worry about any player who can't lay off a ball accurately, ESPECIALLY a striker, especially so the striker we're going to depend on in South Africa.
