I'd like to see Cooper get some time.

Not even 25 years old, and I kind of feel his ship has already sailed. He seems so one dimensional, but maybe that is just the way he looks.

I think I read something about Torres that said he had a concussion not too long ago and was left off in part because of that as well. You can't be too careful with those.

I love it that Torres' nickname in the Mexican league is "El Gringo."

Additional 7 spots announced, and no surprises here: Altidore, Bornstein, Casey, Clark, Feilhaber, Guzan, Kljestan.

I wont slam my head on my desk (again) over SK or Casey being included, but how pissed must Chivas and the Rapids be?

Instrumental players going to be gone for 2 solid months.

You forgot about Houston who not only lost Clark for the Confederations Cup but now lose Clark, Holden and Ching for the Gold Cup.

I'd be more sympathetic to that if there weren't 8 playoff spots. It's not like they have to win a single table.

hmmmm, you've got two left backs in there, pard, neither of which can play all that well. I like your attack, though.

I'm dissappointed EJ wasnt called up. I would like to get a good look at him in a US jersey now that he's spent a season working hard on his game at Cardiff. My biggest complaint with him was he played too lazy and I'd love to see how much that has changed.

Evidently Eddie is with the tour of Australia. Here's hoping he gets some game there and can impress Roy enough to keep him.

HD, i dont mind playing guys out of position. Defenders should be able to cover and stop the ball no matter were they are on the field. I want to see those guys on the field to know who should occupy roster spots. If you can not cut it in the gold cup then you probably should not hold a spot going forward.... I dont know if you can field an entire squad of questionable players so thats were Altidore, Davies, Feilhaber, Adu and Clark come in.(players who need time on the field, but are in our future plans for certain). My $.02 anyway...I would like to have seen EJ as well. His future seemed promising at one time but a lack of exposure has stalled his development recently.(with USNT)

Good to hear, and for the sake of Fulham, the USA, and EJ, let's hope he does some backflips downunder.

Dang. We never did a match thread.

Very impressed with Robbie Rogers and Stuart Holden. Also impressed by Beckerman. I don't know where you'd start to find fault. I was about to say to the missus how disappointed I was with Pearce when he made that beautiful flick on for Rogers's goal. The only guy who looked shakey was Perkins, who had one attack to deal with and flopped around like Warren Beatty at the end of Bonny and Clyde while making it. Oh, and I suppose I could point out that both Goodson and Marshall had wide open headers from set pieces and couldn't put the ball on frame.

Granted, the opposition weren't up to much, but the USA played extremely well, kept their shape and their discipline, and interacted nicely. Good to see Adu for 90 minutes. Nice to see 'dolo back.

And wasn't it nice to see a real left winger for the USMNT? The days of Lewis, Beasley, and Convey fighting it out for the position are over. I think it's Rogers's to lose.

Funny, Beckerman did not impress me at all, but then I was in and out of the room. What specifically impressed you Don because when I was watching, I was watching him- due to the Grenada jerseys putting me in the dreadlock rasta mood.

Boys played well, liking Davies more and more - more than Altidore, more than EJ. I know I'm probably alone here - at least with the Altidore part.
