I know a lot of Fulham-supporting Brits don't like Burnley, but I do. They're a small club that does. They had TWO great cup runs this year, and still managed a playoff spot.

My fondness for these guys stems from the late 60's and early 70's when they stayed up with the Big Boys by developing their own talent -- in abundance. They'd blood these kids in their teens, sell them for a bundle [in those days 50k was a bundle], and then bring up more kids. The closest analogy I can come up with was the old Montreal Expos.

They went down in the 70s and this is their first time back. Best of luck -- except against us, of course.

I was hoping for Sheffield United because I think they have staying power. Having Burnley and their Turf Moor ground in the league will be cool. Owen Coyle is great and Burnley play football under him. I also think it's good for Fulham to have Burnley in the league rather than a Sheffield United, a Newcastle or a Middlesbrough. It's just another small club in the premier which makes it somewhat easier (on paper at least) for Fulham to stay up.

Burnley, Hull, Wolverhampton, Stoke, and Birmingham... should all be weak next year. Bolton and Wigan shouldn't be getting much better. Wigan probably won't be as good. So hopefully Fulham can stay in the top 10 another season. I don't think we'll beat out Tottenham or Man City for a European spot next year. Who knows though. Man City and Tottenham are still just as likely to implode again with all their over paid stars.

I'd add Pompey to that mix as well. Read somewhere the other day where Bolton are expecting to get a cash infusion from somewhere. Course you know how that goes.

As for the new boys though, Wolves may be pretty salty. They have some decent talent. Of course for all 3, we'll know a lot more after we see how they spend their money and supplement their squads. Of the 3, Burnley should be the odds on favorite for the drop. Which means they'll take 6 pts off of us.

And once again, FulhamAg demonstrates his firm understanding of "Fulhamish."

Its been since 1951 since Fulham last won at Turf Moor, so nevzter and fulhamag are correct. And we're probably screwed.

But hey, we're in Europe!!!!

It's early and I may want to revise this opinion, but I don't see any of the three new boys going down. Wolves have some talent, more so than Bolton or Hull did this year. Brum have an experiences manager who I am sure learned from his mistakes, and Burnley can play some footy and have a bright young manager. Hull and Stoke will have a tough road to hoe, to name a few.

I'm glad Burnley got promoted because they have not been in the Premier League (at least for as long as I've been following it), and I like seeing different clubs make it.

On Wolves, I agree with SeveteM19 that Wolves have some talent--I noticed that four of the top eight players in the Football League in FourFourTwo's annual list are from Wolves.

Since this has turned into a "who's going to go down next season" thread, I think all the adulation we've paid to Tha Big Aussie as blinded us to the fact that the most IMPORTANT goalkeeper in the league is Jussi Jaskeleinen. Without him bailing out Bolton's crap defense time after time, Bolton would have finished below West Brom. If they don't re-sign him, I think they're for the drop.

So arrest me for aiding and abetting in hijacking my own thread.

It feels weird knowing that the team that lost an exhibition to the Cary Railhawks U23's (Now the Cary Clarets) back in July, is going to be playing in the EPL. Now granted I don't imagine any of the players I saw last year are going to be on the field in August but I'm looking forward to seeing Burnley next year. I hope they do well, just not as well as Fulham. And if they take Hull out in the process, I'm not going to complain.

Yeah, I forgot about them. They could be getting relegated soon as well. Blackburn is another team that has financial issues in their background. I expect Sam Allardyce to keep them up though.

OT: just always a mild irritant to me... That's Tough ROW to hoe.

But it MAY just be a typo.. maybe steve's like me and hears what he types in his head as he types it.

That's tough. With all of the "Coyle is God" signs and platitudes in Burnley, you'd have to think his departure would gut the club and town.

I saw him quoted on Sky Sports News yesterday saying "The only way I'll leave Burnley is if the director fires me." So, who is it telling porkies, eh? Coyle or Sky?

I personally have never tried to hoe a road but I am guessing it would be pretty difficult. That is probably why they use the big dirt moving equipment instead.

Here in the south, a "road hoe" means something completely different.

And today there's another iteration of Coyle's determination to stay with Burnley.

He'd rather be a supporting player in the Prem, than the 2nd rated prince in a two-horse league. Can't blame him.

Wolves are going straight back down, as would any team that had Mick McCarthy as their manager.

They should just sack him now and get it over with.
