Or, as we like to call it, The Clint Dempsey Show, Part 2! 8)

Since there's already two "match day gathering" threads on this, I figured I'd kick this off. Not sure what our injury situation is [how often has anyone typed that this season?], but I always like our chances at Stamford Bridge. It's a small, compact pitch, and this plays into our hands. Our midfielders are not the youngest or speediest, and can't get spread so thinly as they can on a giant pitch.

All things being equal, I look forward to solid matches by Paintsil, Dempsey, Murphy, and the H&H Wrecking Crew. No lineups or predictions till I see our injury list.

I can't believe I'd have to bump ANY match thread, especially not one featuring us against The Undead.

    BUMP!

oh, and we're up to FOUR match-day gathering threads! Woo hoo

Glad I have Setanta, otherwise I'd have to drive down to South Bend to have any chance at watching (can't get the pubs here to carry any games & Chelsea is too big of a game to watch on a sketchy illegal stream).

Really hope we have Johnson healthy. I could live without Bobby Z if need be, but we need Johnson's pace. The boys will be up for it as we still have much to play for. Not only the Europa spot, but there's still a mathematical chance that we could catch Everton & Villa (longshot, but still a shot).

I'll probably skip the chat room this week and just watch on TV. I'm always too nervous to multi task when it comes to playing Scum.

    No predictions yet. COYW!

I'm going to miss this game and it is killing me. I have to go to a wedding in Beloit, Kansas. From what I can tell it's the middle of nowhere. Been trying to find a bar to watch it at, but no luck so far.

    I predict a 1-1 draw.

It might just be me, but seems to me it gets harder and harder to find Setanta's TV listings for a given match.. WTH is wrong with just putting a dropdown for the day in question and going from there.

Dale Johnson, whoever that is, taking questions on soccernet.

    Asked and answered:

Christian (Santa Rosa Beach, FL): Morning, or Afternoon, Dale! Do you think Fulham can possibly nick a win against Chelski at their void of any character stadium after Barca has sufficeintly worn them out by running them all over the Camp Nou?

Dale Johnson: (10:24 AM ET ) It's highly unlikely all the big names will play against Fulham. Chelsea know they cannot win the league and as such have to preserve one of their two trophy chances. Fulham for the Europa League?

The rest of you get over there and harrass the 'scum!

My daughter has her first Holy Communion on Saturday morning. In-laws will be in town (from South Bend, Dawg). This will be tricky...

Glad to see there is a repeat broadcast at 4:00 p.m. One of my sons has a soccer game at 3:00 p.m. This is my son who is a big Chelsea fan. He and I might be stopping in a soccer pub on the drive home from his game!! My wife will not like it...especially with her parents in town. I'll have to think of something.

I mentioned on another thread that I think this match has upset written all over it. Chelsea has a huge match with Barca just a few days before, and then again a few days after. They have no real chance at winning the league title, so they have little to play for against Fulham.

    Fulham wins, 2-1.

Now he's taking shots at Fulham.

Adam Williams, London: Why are Sheffield Wednesday so rubbish?

Dale Johnson: (10:54 AM ET ) Hello producer Adam. Surely it's better to be a club with history and traditional famous stadium? As opposed to a two-bit small club with a poor ground (one end of which is temporary seating) which is in the Premier League for a short holiday before returning to their rightful place? Like Fulham.

Ouch! Still, he picks us for Europa, as if that means anything (him picking us).

    haha...

The couch is an old one my parents had in their finished basement. I got it in my "TV Room", which will soon become my daughter's room. I'm in the process of changing it over.

With today's draw between barca and chelsea, there is an even greater reason to blow off our game. I think we pull it off 2-0

Because there's no point in buying Fulham: The Complete Record if you don't use it to look up this sort of thing, Fulham's latst win at Chelsea was October 27, 1979, in the Second Division by a 2-0 score. Goals were by John Beck and Gordon Davies and Perry Digweed kept a clean sheet in Gerry Peyton's absence.

Incidentally, Peyton and Digweed would both play briefly for Chelsea on loan much later in their careers; Davies would spend a short time at Chelsea in between two much longer stints with Fulham and is the only player ever to score a hat trick both for and against Chelsea. (The hat trick against Chelsea was for Fulham in 1983-84, when he provided all of Fulham's offense, including his 100th goal for Fulham, in a 5-3 loss at the Cottage.)

So, the point is, it's been 30 years, and we're due!

    That question is classic!!

Also, the Fulham is rubbish question was the presenter's way of giving the the guy who asked the question grief -- he's the producer on ESPN's weekly podcast show and he's a Fulham supporter too. Sounds like sour grapes to me though.
