Actually Somali Pirates Seek Bailout is not quite dum enuff to be RTN.. but I decided to run with it. Maybe because, unlike "President seeks dialogue with moderate pirates!", I made it up... or didnt hear it elsewhere, anyway.

The Somali Maritime Intervention Group (SMIG) has hired a K street lobbying firm to address down-cycle needs in their industry. Insurers have rumored a ten-fold fee increase rider in their maritime policies which could change the way they do business drastically.
Coupled with that, there is less job opportunity for Somali's in the western countries and an increasing reluctance by local governments to accomodate Somali communities in those countries.

"We see no reason why we shouldnt be added to that list of financially stressed interests when we have fully complied with the inferred custom and social constructs of our favorite host countries. To wit: we have enthusiastically adopted English as our second language and see no reason why we are not fully employed in the job roles of our choice: Mainly Cab drivers and checkout cashiers."

Abdullahi added: "The smokescreen about Islamic activism and whether we wont handle bacon, or transport Guide Dogs has nothing to do with it. The core issue is whether or not our brothers back home can assist in our well-being and standard of living. Many of us count on those checks. And it's worth noting that the net financial flow into the US is positive. Unlike that big evil WalMart."

In related news, the pirates' union: Somali Maritime Enterprise Guild Manpower Association (SMEGMA) is said to be preparing a similar request.

The US Government's response to either proposal is yet unclear as the only statement concerning the issues are from the top echelons of the State Department and Somali Analysts are divided as to the meaning of the wording in context.

A spokesman for SMEGMA, with the condition he not be identified as Muhamedallhi Ishtar, said: "Frankly, we have a dispute as to the meaning of the words interspersed with all the cackling. Many of us think the madame sees the issues in a positive light. Others think it's a sign of derangement."

I was actually expecting the "Obama reaches out..." article to be real. That says a ton. Anyway, funny 'Fog; thanks for posting. Got a few much welcomed chuckles out of it.
