Good for Vancouver and a PacNW derby. Would think this increases Ottawa and St Louis' chances.

The spin doctors in Vancouver are hard at work. Putting tarps over the seats in the upper decks and taking down the goal posts is apparently now called a "soccer-specific configuration" !!

I call it a lousy atmosphere, playing in an oversized stadium on plastic grass with American/Canadian football lines. Yuck!

I freely admit this post is entirely motivated by "sour grapes" since St. Louis has not (yet) been awarded a franchise, and our hopes are fading. If St. Louis gets a team, I'll take it all back and I'll be happy for the good folks of Vancouver. Until then, I remain cynical and bitter.

dont worry. Feel your pain, JP.

'soccer specific configuration' Ummm... yeah, the Horseshoe had that, 96-98.

But it had real grass, IIRC.

My guess is it has to do with the Olympics.

FWIW, I heard that it is b/c MLS doesn't want to do any more seasons with an odd number of teams and have someone cooling their heels every week.

Congrats to Vancouver! Can't wait to see the huge rivalry in two years between Seattle and Van. Now I really hope they choose St. Louis as well. It's a crime that a soccer city like that does not have a team.
