Look I feel like I fell down a rabbit hole and someone asked me to tea.

We ALL KNOW the ref made the call the way he saw it. Maybe he didnt see ANYONE touch the ball and it just sort of dribbled around after it came in. Maybe he only saw the GK make contact, if so yes, Gallas was on side in his eyes.

And it still doesnt matter what happened before or after the ball is advanced toward goal. It was advanced intentionally by his mate, the GK knocked the ball back off his mate... the first contact counted, the second didnt because the contact was not instigated purposefully.
If the player had missed the ball with his head and the keeper knocked it back off him then the call was technically correct.
But bottom line, if the rule is followed the only thing that counts is what you see when you see it.
Technically WE CAN SEE Gallas was off side the instant his mate put his head on the ball. Just because the ref didnt see it or call it doesnt change the fact he was offside.

And screw everything else, it's that instant! Before/After DOES NOT MATTER
Anyone says it does cite an example on open field play, as I did.

If Gallas had been in the open running at the keeper, unmarked, and the ball was played to him, but keeper cleared it first, are you saying offside wouldnt or shouldnt be called?

Box is a convenient way of referring to that arrangement of lines. What do you call them? And why the hell does it matter I said that?

Sorry, it is like fingernails on chalkboard for a ref. It is an "Area" (penalty area, goal area). I was just having fun with ya. Maybe you need to come out to CA and get out in the warm sunshine. 8)

Isn't the penalty box that place where the bad boys of hockey go and spend their time-out punishment? :big grin:
