    Top 4, other than Beckham:
    Good on the Crew!

OTOH, Does ANYONE think Blanco is worth $2.9 Mill? I dont. Oh, yeah, he's a valid DP, and should be getting well over a million but that's ridiculous.

here's the question, 'fog. How is an over-the-hill one-legged has been named Freddy getting $1.31mil when Donovan is getting 900k and [are you sure this isn't a typo?] GBS is only getting $775. This reminds me of two summers ago when Thierry Henry was transferred for 2 million quid LESS than Marcus Bent!

Thanks for the links. I'm guessing you'll sticky this thread like last years.

I couldn't help but notice, on the other end of the totem pole -- Jeff Cepero, the GK horse that led RBNY into the finals -- $34k. I make more than he does. Godspeed to him and the rest of the 20k-30k earners.

    According to Wiki:

Henry moved to Barcelona in June of 2007 for 24 million euros - or 16.224 million pounds (or there abouts)

DARREN Bent moved to Spurs in June of 2007 for 16.5 million pounds.

Marcus Bent moved to Charlton in 2006 for 2.3 million pounds and to Birmingham City in 2008 for around 1 million pounds.

Obviously you meant Darren, but I am not sure where you got the superfluous 1.724 million pounds. Maybe something special in the way the transfer was paid?

Me thinks you are losing it old man.

Also - Your point is that Darren Bent is crap. You are correct - he is total crap.

Blanco may not do it on the field enough to warrant that pay, but, like Beckham, he puts butts in seats.

Jensers, thanks for the correction. I agree that DARREN Bent is not worth a 250k pounds more than Thierry Henry.

My point wasn't about the relative merits of Bent, it was that compensation and transfer fees quite often make no sense in terms of quality. It's sort of like signing DARREN Bent so that you can transfer out Berbatov, Keane, and Dafoe -- makes no sense. Thank goodness our club doesn't do stupid crap like that!

There is a kid on DC and one on the Quakes making $20K. Are you freakin' kidding me?

Philosophically speaking though there is a certain 'throwback' quality to the MLS salaries that is refreshing. Meaning most of these guys would not appear to be playing for a just paycheck.

    C'mon Quakes!!!!

You are preaching to the choir on Spurs making some very poor decisions.

But they are not alone. I have 2 letters for you: LS :)

Sorry, this is all off topic - It is hard to resist the opportunity to have a little fun with Hatter. Back to the topic! Where does Keller sit?

I was a little shocked at what sounders are paying for Freddie L. Another guy who is solid, but in the end - he isnt going to win games for you. Only as good as the players around him.

GBS on the other hand... I would be afraid of playing against him with 11 Freddie L's.

I'm sorry, I couldn't help but laugh at this second sentence. I know you meant "just for a paycheck" not "for a just paycheck." But the way it was put cracked me up.

It is refreshing though. Latrell Sprewell would be amazed.

ah.....oh yes....I could see where that would be a bit of a different meaning wouldn't it? Though I suppose if you are someone like WB, he may feel it is true the way I wrote it rather than the way I meant.

Yeah, but you can't go studs up on anyone going down the hallway either. That's gotta be worth a couple grand.

There are a couple of graduates of the high school where I work (I'm the Alumni Director) on this list. I'll be sure to ask Taylor Twellman ($420,000) for a substantial gift to the alumni fund this year. But I'll be taking John DiRaimondo ($20,100) off of my solicitation list.

We also had a lad named Joe Germanese who was drafted by the Revs last year, but I don't see his name on the list, so I guess he didn't sign.

    300,000 for Keller.

Not a single salary below 34k in Seattle.

Wow seeing the whole list certainly puts beckham's salary in perspective. Hope he is buying his teamates dinner once in a while.
A lot of goalies making $20,100. No love for the keepers huh?

Part of donovan's bitch about Becks was that he took his teammates out to dinner at a good restaurant and then didn't pick up the check -- something that the captain should do. Shit ... something any senior ranking person does on the road on any company trip.

Yeah Dave .. good morning! Have a nice nap?

    ;) j/k

And GOOD {not saying great} NA GK's are a dime-a-dozen. Ironically, that's how a guy like Troy Perkins goes from being a Full Time mortgage banker and MLS pool GK to starting for DC United in the span of weeks.

Sorta like Dan Fouts/ Kurt Warner, ya know.

And btw: it looks like Beckham's dosh wil have a positive ROI, there's several guys on there making 200 grand who dont.

Best bargain, for results? I'd say GBS, Donovan, Blanco, McBride.
