Don't know the full story, but when a club just releases you...yikes. Too bad he had such a great season the year they got promoted. He's only 25, but with the injury bug that follows him, he's might end up falling in the "what might have been file"

The last time he got a shot with the first team was in a cup match about a month ago. He started and missed two sitters in the first 20 minutes. He just never came back from that major injury. He was chubby [I know; look who's talking], and never got his pace. If you're a winger, and you've lost your pace, it's time to look for new work.

It's a shame. He was brilliant in the season that Reading won the CCC by about 58 points, but he only had one or two good 20 minute stretches since then.

    And so it goes.

So what to do you think? He'll go to MLS, a lesser Euro side, or retire?

Well, Jon Thorrington was struggling in the third tier of English football and has done very will in the MLS, so ... .

We've been sending a lot of talent into that league. They seem to be doing well also.

As a Quakes supporter I am hoping for the best if he does sign with them. Huckerby did great for them last season and looks like he will be back this season as well which is good.

Any of you know who this guy is, San Jose signed him earlier this week:

Cam Weaver to a multi-year contract, the Major League Soccer club announced on Thursday.

The 25-year-old target forward played for FK Haugesund of the Norwegian first division the past two seasons. In 2008 he scored 11 goals in all competitions.

As a rule of thumb, I am always wary of guys named "Cam".

    Cam Neely!!!!

I know that other puckheads exist around here (good knowledge, LAX, as knbr's gary "radinobinovich" would say)!!!

Shneickes, misfitkid has a sharks emblem on his car for pete's sake.

As another 'quakes supporter I say hell yeah to convey's potential arrival, but I'll believe it when I see it. Regardless, the squad has been quietly built and is solid.

Beware the Quakes in '09. Seriously. Or, not so much...

And Cam should be wary of guys named Ulf, at least this one. Haven't looked at that cheap shot in a long time.

After Cam Neely announced his retirement they had him on sports radio in Boston one day for an interview. They took a few calls from listeners. Afer a few calls the caller with an accent comes on the line saying stuff like 'Cam, this is Ulfey, how come a little knee issue causes you to quit, are you a wimp?" Afterwards the hosts said Cam looked like he was about to put his hands throuhg the phone and strangle the caller. The caller continuted saying stuff like , "You really girly man!" All of a sudden Neely starts cracking up as he realized it was his good friend Michael J Fox and the whole thing was a set up. One of the funniest parts was Fox was making the call from Neely's house in suburban Boston.

I never was that impressed by Thorrington, but I just looked up his record and see the reason why. Same old problem.. injury prone. Good on Fire to keep him... he paid off in goals and availability in 08. He's apparently somewhat like Oughten on the Crew, except protected in the last Expansion draft.

Maybe Convey will do the same. Maybe not. Still a gamble.

With the transfer window closed can any team sign him now? Forgive my ignorance, still learning the sport.

If he's released, no team has any hold on him. He should be there for the taking anywhere in the world.

Speaking of: Magic Simon Elliot, remember him, is also in camp with the Clash... err.. Quakes.

CrewFan cynics wonder if Yallop has him in to teach backpassing.

RE: Simon Elliot Surfaces in SJ

I work in Reading and will say the patience with Convey and his injury prone self had worn very thin. I saw him play a couple of times here when they were in the Premeirship and was not that impressed.

On another Reading FC note, Hahnemann is back from injury and supposedly back in form but the back up keeper has been doing very well and he has not slid back into the starting 11. Word from a bar fly who just got back today from the draw with Preston (spoke to this punter about 90 minutes ago in a pub here in Henley) the opinion is if it ain't broke don't fix it. Given Reading's #2 spot in the Championship, its hard to argue. That being said, on the whole, fans like him a lot. Hope he gets back into the lineup.
