I really like this move for City. I apologize if this was posted somewhere else and I missed it. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=615196&sec=england&cc=5901
damn; the abbreviated thread title on the preview pane said "... is off." I was hoping for that to be true. I think it's a mistake. In Joe Hart they have the best English keeper playing, and he'll only get better. Given is great, but why bring on extra wages when you've got a great player in that position already? Here's a quote from a disgruntled City fan:
Good points perhaps, but in the short term it will make them better. I think they have underachieved and will be a very dangerous team down the stretch. Meanwhile, this is a real kick in the gut for Newcastle. They've already conceded 40 this season...how are they keeping any out without Given?
I think Newcastle are going to get themselves relegated with this deal, although it would be a nice story if Steve Harper were to step in and do a great job after being Given's backup for eons.
