About the 30th time I've seen this, so thanks, Doggie; I needed that.

    What a giant.

I followed ex Crew players to England, first Friedel, then John, then McBride. back when Friedel went to L'Pool, the only connection I could make with his new club was through Fan Boards, and the most active was of course on AOL.. which was fitting considering the knuckledragging Liverpool fans. I enjoyed telling them all that Friedel would ultimately prove far and away a better keeper than Crybaby James.
I got a TON of abuse.. from those who couldnt manage to type a coherent sentence let alone spell most words right, even according to British standards. That was my baptism of fire on footy boards.

When Stern John went to Forest, I didnt participate much.. I knew his weaknesses, indeed I was proved correct there, too.

When Brian went to Preston on loan, I -very meekly, I might say- passed on his strengths and what and what not to look for and was more warmly received. Most doubted.. until they saw him play his first game, then most PNE sentiment went to Brian. Those folks know their footy!

Did same at Everton and Brian quickly proved me right, though I gave MB fans caveat that his remarkable performance was as much confidence as skill.

So, since I enjoy very much being proved right and had withstood the storm of idiots on AOL, I expressed the same to FFC fans on the Offal. To a round of hoots, I might add. But at least on Fulham's site, there were literate folks as well as the pimple faced brit juveniles.

I was of course 'warmly received' by the then legend Ostrich Watch, making his 'top ten mb idiot list' in my very first month. Those who've been around since then realize what an honor that is.
However, no matter what they say now, most fans said that Brian was second rate and a roster player at best.

As I say, I have full confidence in my judgement and I hung in. Until the kudo's starting pouring out for Brian then I sort of lost interest.
Fortunately Tom and Mike started this site and after a while asked me to join em for the grunt work. That gave me a new point of focus* and the rest is history.

I'm STILL smarter than OW - or at least display it better. And I'm STILL usually right in my opinions.

    * For those who dont realize it, YET, I enjoy talking about the adjunct topics, like how someone plays/manages/runs the club or their personalities and weaknesses/strengths, more than in-game analysis.

    So there!

I fell in love with the Whites the first time I went to the Cottage, at the end of 90's. Since that moment I had followed Arsenal (even because when I was kid Fulham was in the lower divisions, so it'd have been impossible for a foreign fan to become supporter of them), and I begin to, but now Fulham is at first place, I believe for that smell of great old tradition, a sensation that in the top teams and stadia is disappearing.
