Dubya's UAW bailout

    On principle, I'm against it. It was clearly beyond the scope of TARP, according to almost everyone.

    But I dont question the necessity of it, given there was no one else willing to take some heat. I wouldnt have complained much if Obama did it either.

    And it shows much clearer thinking than does this excreble piece of crap who learned how to write sentences and not much else:

    Salon: The South's attempt to kill the North's auto industry is the latest battle in an ongoing conflict. It's time for a Third Reconstruction to put an end to it.

    No one here has snickered more on Southern work ethic stereotype more than I have. But this is totally wrong.
    There's lots of reason to blame US executives for quality perception issues, for example the interiors are generally considered second-rate. Saturn was always a kind of a joke.

    But those southern foreign-owned plants are set up to produce quality goods while mooting the worker related issues. You cant say the same about the old line plants as a rule.

    And not all big 3 autoworkers in the rust belt are lazy shirkers, either. But there's enough of them to seriously put our home field advantage six feet under.
