    Jensers, dude. Check this out:

I'm all for it. The guy was one of the best keepers in the EPL the last two seasons and is a great advert for the quality and attitude of US players. Besides, we did the double over Reading last year and, with him between the pipes for the Spuds, we can do the same!

They could certainly do worse. Oh wait, they already did!

Hmmmm... This is the first I heard of this.

I would be happy to see him come back to the EPL, and I would trust him to do the job. As you say - it would be another great show for the US.

It would be really interesting to see if he is brought in as the new #1 or if he is there to replace the back-up that Harry obviously has no confidence in.

In my opinion - Spurs need a new #1 and #2.

It would be a great move for him, but I just don't see it happening.

I think I see this as a go, or at least danged close -- it depends on how well Spurs are able to basically eat a contract for a guy who ain't much better than me.

Wonder what Reading fans think of this -- they have an automatic promotion quality team over there now.

I was thinking the same thing Steve. Reading currently sit third in the CCC only four points behind Birmingham. I think Hahnemann just signed a contract extension. After their off-season purging I can't imagine Reading need to sell Hahnemann for cash unless the economic crisis is a problem. I know Spurs have a tidy budget but if all of the above is true I can't imagine Hahnemann would come terribly cheaply.

I dont know - Fulham only paid 150,000 pounds for him in the first place and then they canceled his contract after they loaned him to Reading.

I dont see a huge price, and yet - I see his going as a HUGE return on investment for Reading since they didnt pay much for him anyway.

I am sure that they need the money - everyone needs money right now.

What do you think? Maybe 1.5 or 2 million pounds?

he's been an ever-present starting keeper for 4+ seasons now and he's not old for a keeper. They won't pay as much as they wasted on Gomes, that's for sure.

All I can do is think of Keller and say... heh!

Yeah, I know he's on the steep part of the downslope but, WTH.... An old US keeper is still above the curve.

I can't see why headed-for-promotion Reading would sell him in January, nor why Hahnemann would want to go to headed-for-relegation Tottenham. I don't see Marcus as the guy to leave a team and fanbase that loves him just for a bigger paycheck.

    You mean...andReading?

(insert photo of fan with Reading and Man Utd tattoos here)

I still don't think Gomes is that bad. Despite what the drama-happy media would have you believe, his performance against us was probably one of the better games any goalkeeper has had this season. Paul Robinson would have let 5 or 6 through, most keepers 3 or 4. Gomes was pretty highly regarded at PSV, and despite a bad stretch early on, his save % is still in the top half of the league. Spurs have just faced a ton of shots - more than anybody except WBA.

Gomes looked good in the Eredivisie last season, which is why Tottenham tossed the dosh for him this season. I agree that he is not as bad as he seems right now. But he looks pretty inconsistent right now,...and snake-bit. Take him out and get some confidence and fire back.

Meanwhile, while I like Hahnemann, I'd be happy to see us take advantage of him.

He is looking better - last night he didnt spill too many.

My problem with him is the fact that often he punches when he should catch, and he bobbles everything... But like I said - they have a new GK coach, and he seems to be spilling less.

I like the idea of Hanemann because he will provide the competition that is required to get the best out of both of them. Obviously there is currently no competition and that is never healthy for professional athletes.

Spurs headed for relegation? Come on Andy - you know that is ridiculous.

    David Moyes:
"Did anyone really belief that Spurs would stay in the bottom three? Harry wasn't daft, he knew there was a good squad there with a lot of money spent," said the Scot.
He added: "But if people felt Spurs would not end up challenging at the right end of the table, there was something wrong with them.
"With the squad they have and their finances, of course they will challenge. Harry has gone in there and done well to turn them around, but it would have happened.
"They are a top-six club and anyone who felt differently isn't on this planet."

The link says Hahnemann is out of contract next summer. If you know a player is likely to leave on the free the money is hard to turn down. However, the cash Reading would receive by getting promoted makes the transfer fee look like peanuts. Tough spot for the decision makers at the Madjeski.
