The finish of the Villa/Everton match was something. Pretty extraordinary.

    timmyg,

i'm in agreement with pinko, Obama moonie Don. next week's match is just another game... but i know what you mean.

i also don't think Fulham will "easily" be a top 10 team. they could finish in the top 10, there's the potential perhaps (barring few, to no injuries) of the finishing in the top ten, but with so much parity in the EPL this year, it won't be accomplished easily. it's a long, hard road all the way to the finish. relegation is still a possibility as well, but i doubt it.

I don't think last year is going to be comparable to this year. I suspect the three relegated teams this year will have significantly more points than those relegated last year. So whilst 20 points now is great, we're going to have to keep on delivering them. Who knows, even 45 points might be close to the bottom 3 this year.

AS for the match, it was a non-event really. It took us 15 - 20 mins to get started and by that time we were already down. It was a difficult one but Bullards goal was class.

Zamora missed a golden opportunity to put us ahead but how fantastic was his pass to Jimmy.

Lastly, don't get me started on that hand ball.

Uh, the ONLY unqualified support for McCain on this site. He couldn't have lost without that support you know!! 8)

Oh, and thanks for the link, Mikey. They're a lot more cultured lot than on our offal, that's for sure. I would have hoped that supporters of many sides in the EPL would find Roy and the boys and the ground something to be positive about.

Fulham started flat. While we deserved the penalty call, at the end of the day, a draw was the deserved result for both sides.

Craven Cottage is kind of like the Wrigley Field or Fenway Park of English football. It's a very fashionable ground to like these days, and the likes of Bullard and McBride being on the team have made them a team that people hope the best for.

I'm not sure it's a working class team either, more like a Sunday morning after church kind of team and crowd. West Ham is the working class team.

Not sure there are any truly working class teams left in the EPL. Millwall used to be the archetypal working class team, but their supporters were a bunch of thugs. Wet Spam? Not predominantly working class any more I don't think. Probably more chance with some of the northern teams, like Sunderland maybe.

the working class generally can't afford the ticket prices to footie anymore. It's that way with roundball over here as well.

I used to get tickets to SA Spurs games for as little as 5 dollars in 1976. The last Spurs game I attended found me up in the stratosphere holding a ticked marked $87.00. I was given the ticket by a young man who wanted my approval to marry my favorite niece. This was around 1999. They have two children and another on the way. He's never taken me to another match. Why? He's married; he can't afford it any more.

Yes, well in the '60s I used to get into the Cottage for 2 bob plus sixpence for a programme. I now live is Oz, but Christmas before last i was in London and went to the Fulham v Wet Spam game. It cost me 35 quid! That's approximately 350 times what it used to cost me - admittedly 2 bob was the junior price, so lets say nominal ticket prices have gone up nearly 200 times in 40 odd years. Be interesting to compare that with say the price of a pint or a loaf of bread. I think our modest, terraced house in West London sold for 5,000 quid in the 60s and it could well sell for 300k now, which is "only" a 60 times increase.
