I balked on the jersey. It was a reasonable price - I think around $60. Then when I went to purchase it, a charge more than double that price was added in and there was no option to get Charlie's name and #. I emailed the club asking where to buy a jersey and they sent me a link. They signed the email "Thank you for Charlie!!" So sweet. I'll let you know if if I can get one with his name that is reasonable.

Charlie was released from the hospital and will be starting his rehab with the National team's doctors.

I looked around a bit to see if I could watch the interview, but I have not seen it.

    Anyone?

I could not find it either. My husband actuallly saw it though. He said you could tell in his voice he was still emotional about the crash. He also said they showed his legs on camera and you could see several wounds. I'm hoping they were from glass cuts or something and not bone penetration. No questions were asked about the investigation or what happened that night.

I do know that his face is messed from the picture on ives.

I thought it was interesting that the crash didnt play a more prominent role in the interview - but it didnt seem much was talked about - period. All in good time I am sure.

Reality - he so young. Quite a bit to take, but I am sure he is resilient and is already showing that he is moving forward quickly. Wouldnt it be amazing if he was fit and 100% by SA. Come on Charlie - we need you and I am ready to shed a tear after your comeback goal.

I'm sure that there was little discussion about the accident by mutual agreement. There's probably still some investigations going on. If he actually is allowed to return to France, then I guess we can assume that there'll be no criminal charges.

I'm not a police officer or investigator and I don't want to to criticize anyone involved in the investigation or the reporting. It's a tragedy no matter how it happened.

However, I live about 3 miles from the crash site and pass it every day on my way to/from work. The article, or from what I can tell, the police report, fail to mention that the accident site is also a construction zone. A very poorly marked, confusing construction zone that chokes the 2 lanes of that parkway into very narrow lanes. I've never seen that mentioned in any of the stories.

When I read this - I thought to myself, "Not too much here I didnt already assume."

Not that I am saying I am a psychic, just that we all figured it was a combination of alcohol and speed. The situation is just terrible - a horrible way to learn a lesson. I am sure the driver is beside herself.

Just listened to the podcast - good to hear that things are going well and to hear these guys personalities... a lot of fun. Ching sounds like a great veteran and a fine example for these young players. Thank you for the link.

Thanks for the first hand info dthoren. I've read nothing about the crash site being in a construction zone either. However, that's all the more reason why the driver should've slowed down. The article says they went 113 feet in the grass before hitting the guard rail. It's hard to understand why she wasnt able to put her feet on the damn breaks once she went off the road. It's also hard to understand how that was enough to break the car in half - unless she was driving at a ridiculous speed.

Like Jensers said - a horrible way to learn a lesson.

The pace at which his recovery seems to be proceeding is nothing short of amazing.

Wow, cannot believe how rapidly he is progressing. I also had never heard that he tore the posterior cruciate ligament in his knee. That is the injury they thought Dempsey had. It is reassuring to know he is in Hash's hands for his rehab.

If Charlie makes it back to start in the WC, I will not be able to hold back the tears.
