Dempsey speaks...and he's not happy

The weird thing is, though, that Roy just gave him a contract extension this summer. He sees something in him, I think.

 

I think Dempsey's new contract was not Roy's decision. I believe the contract extension was automatic based on a number of appearances clause in his contract.

 

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing it explained that way as well at the time the extension was done.

 

He needs to go somewhere that is going to find a way to use him and his style. I think it is obvious that his creativity has been stifled, and that he doesnt fill a specific role for the club.
Move out in January and start getting some minutes - USMNT needs him playing, not watching.
Who cares what that means for (Yawn) mid to lower table Fulham - A team mired in EPL mediocrity - who's only goal is to stay up.

Dont get me wrong - I follow Fulham and I care how they perform...

BUT - if I have to decide between Fulham and the USMNT, I am going to call Fulham out for what it is and favor the USMNT. Why? Because I want to beat Mexico-in Mexico- this qualification cycle, and ultimately win a World Cup, sooner rather than later...

 

In Woy's West Ham Video Preview, he specifically called out Dempsey's good play during the CC game.

 

That is good to hear.

 

When Clint gets a chance (maybe this week) something tells me he'll respond. If he scores a goal I'm hoping to see celebrate with his teammates and not take a selfish "I told you so" attitude.

 

Even if Clint moves away from Fulham.. it'll be to some other mediocre team in a worse European league. No way any half decent side picks him up. He simply doesn't excel at any one position and so nobody is going to want him, but for some of the worse off teams in the other leagues.

If he wants to just play, he needs to go back to MLS or go play for a mid-tier team in the Netherlands or for one of the worse off Spanish sides. Scotland might also be a place for him to go.
