How come 5 million Bolton bucks wasn't enough, but 5 million Hull bucks is?

Anyway, the whole thing is over money, Jimmy wants more. I reckon he is on what, 35k-40k?

Hull's top earner is Geovanni at 40k. So what are Hull going to offer Jimmy? 50k at the most you would think? And we won't meet that?

It just seems we are losing him over a couple thousand quid, much different than when Boa left to double his wages.

Well, careful what you wish for (or so appeasingly show apathy about), some of you.

And yes, 5 million is a joke.

Riddle me this -- 5 million quid from Bolton is not enough to get the job done. As well as it shouldn't be. But 5 million from Hull is good to go. Is there an intra-England exchange rate difference that I don't know about? Did Hull throw in a case of beer and a bag of ice?

<-- Not very pleased right now. If you get rid of him, I want more $. And plan B had better work. If he stays, it's all water under the bridge. Then, sell him in the frickin' summer.

I certainly hope there are some machinations to this deal that benefit Fulham this year that I don't know about.

EDIT -- Sorry Andy, I didn't read your post when I first typed this.

Oh well. Personally I think Bullard was getting a little too much praise this past season. He was good, but not that good. I just hope Roy doesn't continue with Murphy and Etuhu in the middle...the passing is just does not seem to be quick enough. They seem to have the right idea but the execution is just a little lacking.

Fulham can confirm that a bid of £5m from Hull City has been received for Jimmy Bullard which, after careful consideration, the Club has accepted.

The Club has always made it clear that it was not looking to sell any of its players. However, since signing in 2006 for £2.5m, Jimmy has made a total of 39 starts for the Club and at the age of 30, Jimmy made it clear that he was looking for a vastly increased contract, and explored opportunities to meet his expectations.

The Club thanks him for his valued contribution and wishes him well for the future.

Goodbye Jimmy. In the end it was about the money and about the contract. Takes a step down from one team to another which had everything to do with the cash.

Thanks for everything Jim but doubling your wages and giving you a 4 year contract was not an option.

I'm in full agreement with Heather. I do think he's been a bit overrated lately. Fine player for sure and a good passer but I dont know that he's quite earned his accolades. However, also agree that Etuhu/Murphy isn't going to get it done in the middle. Etuhu for Bullard is a huge drop off. (Can you tell I'm conflicted?) Regardless, 5m was not enough!!

One other thought: could behind the scenes turmoil surrounding this have played into last weekend's debacle? Was the team distracted by discord between Jimmy and Roy? Regardless, much like my beloved BC Eagles screwing up our football coach's departure, no one wins here...especially the fans. Blah.

and so it goes. It is the nature of sport. Jimmy talked himself out of SW6. I don't know where I'd move to for a 100% pay raise and 2.5 more guaranteed years, but I think I could put up with Hull for those numbers. The guy signed with West Ham, and played with Peterborough and Wigan before he signed with us. Why should we expect that he would have an emotional attachment to Craven Cottage deep enough to make him pass up all that coin?

Everyone who thinks that this means that we'll be relegated and Hull will prosper, however, are giving the guy too much credit.

Good luck, Jimmy, and thanks for everything. I hope our "fans" don't boo you when you play here later this year.

Well, I am not ready to consider this water under the bridge yet, in fact I am quite dissapointed in The Club and a few fans not seeing the value of having him in, even at double what we bought him at. He has, in my eyes, earned it, if not more. Bit of bad business on our part.

That said, yet again, when one door closes another opens. I can't help but find myself asking who is the best person in the squad to now step up?

    The answer comes quickly, DEMPSEY.

I'm sorry but from a business perspective this is absolute crap.

If there's anything this transfer market and global credit crunch has showed is that you wring EVERY PENNY out of a player, club, or deal. Just look at West Ham and Blackburn.

A deal like this should get made in an free flowing economy when you can easily recoup the difference, i.e. Bullard should have been sold to a club like Hull for 7 million. Now, it'll be nearly impossible to recoup that net-2 million pound loss.

I trust Roy, but unless a rabbit is pulled out of a hat this is a huge blow to his transfer acumen.

So go sign a LM, move Clint to Jimmy's spot and move Simon back to RM (or vice-versa). We'll miss Jimmy, but I don't think Roy had much choice with the demands, especially given his play this year. Unless Gera can step it up and meet what I assume were Roy's expectations when he signed him, it looks like we'll have to sign someone to fill the void...again preferrably on the left wing, b/c I think we've got guys who can play the central and right mids.

IMHO, this is very good business. 5M for a player who is a hard tackle away from the training room (thanks Don), not to mention, if Fulham were to meet his demands they were looking at increasing their commitment to him at the tune of 1.3M per year with an extension of years on the contract. He goes down and has the propensity to do so, that money is wasted. Fulham can't afford to waste that kind of dough on a 30 year old player.

I will miss him, when he played well, he could change the game by himself, but he was quite inconsistent. He was like watching a roller coaster go up and down, every other couple of games. I didn't rate him as high as some because of this and think Roy already has other plans to address his departure.

I will say this, 'the wink' was the moment that I fell in love with this club, so he plays a big role in this club for me personally.

This makes me sad. I understand that business is business, but nonetheless.

I'll ask again: if it was about the contract, why not wait until Summer? Jimmy's deal was through NEXT season.
