Question for you experts. Anyone think Hangeland's goal could have been a practiced play. I ask this because on the kick Hangeland ran up on a Fulham player (dont know who) and the guy marking him and used the pair as a sort of pick to lose his defender. The kick ended up right at his feet.

I think it bears noting that Dempsey played in a rather violent/intense game against Guatemala earlier in the week. I think we'll eventually see a (thankful) end to the Seol Ki-Hyeon is Starting Era before November and Dempsey should get more starts.

Yes, I know Seol has played fairly well in these two games, but I still find myself saying "Well, at least he GOT the ball there and didn't use his hands" when he's on the field.

Definitely. His kick itself seemed a little awkward, so it might have been intended to be a header, but it definitely looked like something they had practiced. Hangeland did a great job.

I spent all weekend watching baseball and didn't get to a TV or computer to catch the match or the results so when I logged in on Sunday night I got a wonderful surprise. Great win for the cottagers.

I emptied the bottle last week and am proud to say this week I will be enjoying fine imported water. :D

Fantastic win!! Now if my FC Dallas hoops could learn to hold onto a lead and finish like my Whites, I would have had a perfect weekend.

That's right, I said it. Hold onto a lead and finish like my Whites. A couple more like this and we might begin to start forgetting about the end of game charity we all grew to expect last year.

I'm quickly becoming a fan of Paintsil. If nothing else, I love his emotions and tenacity. I thought it was great the way he was standing there with his arms stretched out.

Well, I know what you mean, because I did have one.

Hang in there, the Rapids are ready for a bruisin on the 4th.

Had to be in Vegas for my Fantasy (American) Football draft and have yet to see Prem results in any sportsbook there, so reading the 'Fulham guns down Arse' headline was a thrill. Also cool to see the highlights lead off the EPL Review Show on FSC. Can't add anything about the game, but even at this early stage of the season good to see 3 other names in the drop zone.

MOTM - Pantsil, hands down for me!
He did his job and he did it well ... can't ask for much more!

I don't mind bringing up that I called this result - I think that the Whites appear to be more solid all around this year, I think when AJ finally gets in there, the increase in team speed will be more evident.

Glad to see that others are noticing it as well - just how well Pantsil is playing, and he's just a kid. I think the upside on him is tremendous. Keep him on the pitch Roy! (and more Dempsey, please)

1-0 win over ARSEnal was a true weekend highlight!

John Pantsil is showing real signs of becoming a key off-season pickup.

I thought the midfield showed really well and played a bit scrappy. Heel clips, tackles, and closing down on the ball inhibited the opposition's attack just enough.

Clint Dempsey as a 75th minute sub? I'm not feeling it...

    A very satisfing win nonetheless.

I dvr'd it and watched Sat night. Man, it feels good to win one of those, but the last 25' were pretty damned anxious.

Not much to add from what's been said. Thought Murphy and Pa(i)nstil had strong efforts, but the team as a whole was solid. We do look slow up front with this setup, but that's to be expected with AJ out. We also left a pretty big hole in the middle on our own end as the match wound down. Not sure if that's the CB's pinching down too far or the CM's were too tired. Fortunately VanPersie's aim was wanting.

End of the day, 17 efforts in the top flight against Arsenal, and we just netted win #2. Awesome day!!!

Loved the aggressive, hard-working, constantly-running team defense the boys played on Saturday. Seol and Murphy and Bullard and Gera and Davies were everywhere pressing Arsenal into making hurried, inaccurate passes. If they can keep that kind of effort all season long, I'll be thrilled.
