    Why hasn't anybody mentioned Detroit? We have a natural rivalry with Chicago, and the entire State of Ohio, and Windsor, Ontario is just across the river, well within driving distance of Toronto.

    Our city proudly supports and attends all of our sports franchises (yes, even the Lions) and as for soccer heritage we were a host city for World Cup 94, home of the NASL's Cougars then Express, and we were able to keep an indoor soccer team afloat for nearly two decades, that should count for something.

    As much as I love my hometown, as far as I know Detroit is missing both of the two main ingredients the MLS is looking for:

    * An operator
    * A new soccer-specific stadium

    (Yes, Seattle does not have a stadium, but it's been a good market for soccer in the USL and they had a good operator ready with the bucks.)

    The Detroit economy isn't helping either.

    If Detroit wants an MLS team, they should get a USL1 club and show that it can draw. It may be a minor league, but major league cities like Montreal and Atlanta are a part of it.
