If he goes to Sunderland that would be a gigantic miscalculation and mistake. No offense to the fine people of Northeast England, but why would you leave London for a club up there? I wouldn't lose a little respect, I would lose a lot. If Liverpool or Arse don't make a last minute bid, he needs to swallow his pride and patch things up.

Was surprised to read that Fulham has an option to extend Dembele, which makes me feel a helluva lot better that the club won't be forced to sell...yet. If it's true that ManUre offered 5 mill for him, I'm hoping management gave them a two word response with the second word being OFF!!

Joe, if anything I think Fulham will make quite a bit of money off of a Dembele transfer:

I live in Jerry Jones world so I am constantly amazed by what stupid things rich people will do with their money. Let's hope Jol is right.

That could explain why he and Dempsey have been handled differently.

Mo, I agree with you on the the beginning and being fully open with the club. I still hope Dempsey lands with a CL caliber team if he doesn't remain with FFC. I don't know any of will ever know what truly happened between him and FFC, but my support for either won't be hindered at all by this. Sometimes, people just don't work well together. I'm ok with that. I want dempsey to come out of this not looking like a total ass though. hope it happens.

Well said, sir. I'll always remember Clint's time with Fulham fondly and that goal against Juventus, watched live on some stream someone in the chatroom gave me will probably always be one of my most memorable moments as a Fulham supporter- but it's sad to see the turn this saga has taken. I'm still holding out some measure of hope that he will not only go to a CL club, but a non-English one (at least one that will give him a chance to play- so not Real, Barca, Bayern or the like...).

A gentleman on Twitter rumored that Dempsey checked into a hotel twenty minutes from Sunderland. However, it's also being reported that Spurs are preparing a bid for Clint.

Heading up to the Newcastle/Sunderland zone would be a huge step down, and even Liverpool would be pretty much a lateral move if Ol' Clinton is dead-set on playing "Champion's League Football" at this time, since the ownership/management for the Reds seems to be more focused on being a brand-name than an Ultra-Competitive club.

Sunderland would be downright silly for the above reasons, minus Brand Name (Other than "The Magpie's personal whipping boys").

Arsenal is having enough trouble keeping sane in the wake of the RVP leaving and the Walcott Fiasco. ("Sign to Get Sold... maybe to a team that'll pay you better." WUT?) But if Walcott indeed is chucked, Dempsey might land there... but wouldn't one think they'd have put in a bid a while back? And even then, he'd be signed and sat on the bench for two reasons:

    1) The midfield is established, and a bunch of money was already spent on replacement strikers.

    2) He's from the wrong English-Speaking Country.

EDIT TO ADD: And Spurs bidding? Where are they finding the money after chunking 15 million Pounds (Possibly more, if the rumors of performance-clauses in the transfer deal or other extra cash are true) for Dembele? Note: This is not to doubt any analysis or Shoot The Messenger. Just going "Wutchuck?" at the possiblity.

The Sunderland rumors started on Twitter and to date have proven to be patently false. What does it say if it does come to pass? Nothing more than the bridge has been irreparably burned.

No club are the "whipping boys" of the Toon. Sure, they had a very good year last year, but let's not forget that for the vast majority of their history, they've been England's answer to the Chicago Cubs.

End The Saga Once And For All

Anyone else tired of the Clint rumours? As much as I admire Clint on the field, this has to end sooner rather than later for all parties involved, hopefully this time a deal goes through...

Not sure I really like this deal. Is's not because I don't think Charlie Adam is as bad as they say, but he really doesn't want to move and not sure if he'll fit in at Fulham.

BTW...is this article correct or did they get Richardson and Campbell mixed up?

They also have 6 other players we've been linked with over the past few days in the gallery.

I am guessing that is a misprint and the player should be listed as Richardson since the description says he plays midfield and left back.

Good to hear there is more than one club interested. Fulham might be able to get a fair price.

Have to think this is a little gamesmanship by Jol, with him trying to drum up some interest. Arse is sitting across town having scored precisely ZERO goals in two matches, I know Clint doesn't fit with what Wenger normally buys (age, nationality), but he would be a moron not to throw out a bid.

The Liverpool rumors are heating back up with it looking like they're trying to move Carroll and Adam late. From what I heard, the only thing stopping a Dempsey to Pool move at present is convincing Adam to go to Fulham (or anywhere besides Pool's bench).

Wouldn't surprise me if we've left Dempsey late as "punishment". Both to Liverpool and the player. Of course, that's just me being cynical.

I expect they'll wrap up the move to Liverpool tomorrow unless Arsenal come in with a late bid (which some still think is a possibility, but unlikely). There's too much smoke to the Sunderland stuff to think there's not a little fire, so I suspect that's the fallback if Pool and Arsenal don't come off for whatever reason. I have zero expectation of seeing Clint in the white and black again.
