    NYT: Chávez Decree Tightens Hold on Intelligence

    Seems rather innocuous headline doesnt it, consolidating Ven's FBI and CIA equivalents? So.. nothing happening move on to other news.

    Umm... not exactly. The reporter who wrote it might have put up a different head if he could have.

    It's all for the 'good of the masses', dontcha know!

    The US has the same type of policy without the prison sentence. The Us offers money to have people rat out on people.

    Bounties are a bad idea. No doubt! They result, often as not in true injustice. How would I go about explaining the 'subtle differences'?

    {first pass nasty snark deleted}
    Well, you have a point... would be a lot cheaper if we just did it Chavez/Castro way.

    heh...

    This is hilarious. For everything you hate about Chaves, America does almost the same thing or the same thing in different wording. I get it that you lot are afraid of Socialism and Communism, but you guys are just looking pathetic in attempting to critcize Chavez and the like.

    Because it's much more fun turning this country socialist. It pisses off the neo-cons. Plus, I hate Chavez and Castro.

    Wow! The Return of America: Love It or Leave It! Just goes to show you that some slogans never die, they just use different words.

    I am intrigued that in a thread concerned [rightly] about the danger of punishment for criticizing the abuses of executive power in Venezuela, you'd bring out that "don't criticize our country" chestnut.

    Don't you know that irony is dead? :shock:
