Nicely written piece. It seems only to watch the guy play and how he goes about his business....your sort of left with no other conclusion than what the writer was saying, which was he is the kind of person you hope to be like, or if you work at it, maybe you already are.

    Nice add to the post!

Just finished watching the tribute vid on the offal, and I'm all teary.

    "There goes my hero..." indeed.

There's so much that could be said, and all of it seems inadequate. I'll echo the tremendous level of respect that Fulham fans in general have for him, and say, once again, "Thanks for everything."

Oh, and I third MisFitKid and Nevtzer--California's a mighty nice place to be (EarthquakesEarthquakesEarthquakes).

Yeah, I know he's likely going home, but just in case the McBride clan wants a change of scenery... :)

Next stop : San Jose .... please, please, please, please .... :D

Seriously, though, McBride was the reason I started to follow Fulham Won't be quite the same without both him and Boca.

Any thoughts on where Boca will pop up?

    He single-handedly changed America's soccer credibility !

Glad to see him go ?
Who can score more goals at Striker next year ? or the year after ?

...other than maybe Kamara, I can't see anyone else being able to take the beating of the Premier League and give the productivity he has had over the past 3 years. 9-10 Goals/Season (It's not like anyone became a superstar during McBride's injury time) . Healy was a Sanzhez pick....so it will be interesting.

Ahh, Fulham has been so withered thin of talent in the past 4 years, that the sad part is that he is one of their best players, even at 35 yo.

The funny part is that you can compare his Goal stats from the past 3 Seasons and he would be very competitive to some of the league stars that make 10X his salary/transfer fee.

Thus, what he has done for American soccer in the EPL is nothing short of a miracle.

I remember when news broke that he was signed by FFC, most locals scoffed and doubted he would have any impact.

It is curious that Friedel has stayed too.

Look at how many other EPL strikers have faded in the time he was at FFC, and it is more amazing at the legacy he leaves behind.

Only, American futbol fans can truly understand his impact on America's reputation in the Soccer World.

Oh well, he and Chris Coleman were some of the only reasons I became a fan of FFC. He always played better than his salary and was a dream for a team on a tight budget.

Amazing at who else he played with: VanderSaar, Malbranque, etc. and at what there is now...
He definitely opened the door for American players in the EPL !
And that is something which is priceless !

Hopefully FFC can be a better team from this....but short term, I can not see how they are better !

Congrats to McBride on bringing some respect to American soccer !

thanks for posting, BarryP. I never get tired of that goal, and I never get tired of Brits pointing out an American as an example of the good things about the English game.

I originally thought the same myself, but I kept reading articles about how Mcbride's agent is leaning towards a "Chicago or nothing" stance and I started to think we could see a trade between Toronto and Chicago.

Columbus could pay him what he may be asking for, but Chicago has the neccessary trade pieces to attain his rights from TFC.

Chicago is playing well right now and there dilemma is whether or not they want to gut their team to bring on Mcbride. We shall see...
