    Welcome to the Prem!

Well, there'll be a new trivia answer needed. Hull was the answer to the question: "What's the largest city in Europe NOT to have been represented in a top-flight league?"

Congratulations, and how cool was it that the only goal scored was from a guy almost as old as Pettyfog who was playing for his hometown club?

If you're looking for a parallel side for Hull, look to Wigan. Like Wigan, they have a relatively new stadium. Also like Wigan, their football club has long been dwarfed in national renown and local loyalty by their Rugby side Hull Kingston Rovers. The fact that the new park bears the name "Kingston" tells me that they'll continue to be 2nd banana in the city and that crowds will be pretty low.

In any event, they've deserved it by kicking Watford's ass in the previous round and by pretty much bitch-slapping the big boys in the CCC this season.

Well, now all we have to do is figure out who the other two relegation sides will be next Spring.

I guess that facebook group "Petition to erect a statue of Dean Windass in Hull" just got a little more popular today. And with good reason.

I was pulling for Bristol City. Whatever. Hull is going down. However, Fulham must beat these guys to keep out of the relegation horror. Couldn't even beat Derby this past season.

The Hull/Bristol City game was awful, some of the worst football I have ever seen at that level. Good on Hull, I'll be travelling to that hell hole next year.

Another trivial matter that lept to mind, how many Prem Clubs have worn orange? Just curious, as I don't recall any, except now.

Bradford City maybe. At least I thought that was one of their colors.

When Luton were up in the top flight, their shirts were Orange with a broad white stripe up the left side with two small blue stripes bordering it. Of course, that was the old 1st Division, before the Prem.

    The wonders of Wikipedia:

Dean Windass, local Hull hero who scored their winner today, was once shown three red cards in one match.

I'm excited, I'd like to see one more season out of Jay Jay Okocha, and it is going to be neat to see if this young man Caleb Folan can turn himself into a decent striker.

I bought a Hull jersey months ago because it was only like six or seven dollars and I couldn't say no to the tiger on the front. Now I'm happy because it's an EPL jersey. Of course it will never gain preference over Fulham.

Technically Wolves wear gold. I think Bradford city are yellow and red stipes - so orange from a distance. I don't recall any team with a majority orange strip - but then I'm colour blind and would not back myself in this argument.

I am pleased for Hull, likewise - exstatic for Donnie and over the moon for Leeds.

I agree on Wolves--it's a deep gold, not an orange (but it's close).

I looked up the uniforms for 39 clubs in the books "True Colours" and "True Colours 2" (for a list of clubs, see below). None of these clubs have had an orange home kit since 1980. The following are the clubs with any orange kits from that group during that period:

    Reading, 99-00 A, 00-01 3rd
    Portsmouth, 00-01, 01-02 3rd
    Chelsea, 94-95, 95-96 A (trim colour)
    Blackburn, 97-98 A
    Sheffield United, 04-05 A, 05-06 3rd
    Ipswich Town, 80-81 3rd; 89-90, 90-91 A, 91-92 3rd; and 04-05, 05-06 A
    Ireland, 94-96 A (trim), 97-98 A

Clubs in these books: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Everton, FULHAM, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesborough, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United, Wigan Athletic, Coventry City, Crystal Palace, Derby County, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Leicester City, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Sheffield United, Southampton, Stoke City, Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, and Wales

Eh... I mean, technically it's gold, but unless the shirts were metallic, it's really orange.
