Time for Bocanegra to move on. I find myself in agreement with those who say the pace caught up to him this year. I hope he finds a way to account for that in his off-season training approach, lands at a good club, and shows up at the World Cup ready to deal with the challenges he'll face.

Would've been a great story if Litmanen could've cheated time in Sheringham-like fashion. But that just doesn't happen all that often.

I'm sad to see Boca go as well but the timing was right. Boca isn't a great defender and his lack of pace has been found out on numerous occasions in the EPL. Whilst he may of scored goals, look how many we gave up!!

I will always remember him for his equaliser against Chelsea, where me and Spencer were in the back row of the away end at Stamford Bridge. Boca scored, the place went nuts and I picked up spencer and danced around with him. Then the chorus of DO DO DO, CARLOS BOCANEGRA! Remember that Spence? Best of luck Carlos.

This isn't the end for Stalteri. He is still contracted by Spurs and we were in negotiations. Why pay his wages in the summer when Spurs can do that for us?!

It is sad to see Boca go but I can't say I am surprised. He will get picked up by Coca-Cola Championship team if he wants to stay in England or he will come back to MLS. Regardless, I wish Carlos nothing but the best and thank him for his services to the club.

My most memorable Boca moment was against Spurs during the 2006-2007 season when he headed home the winner late in the match at the Cottage for a 1-0 win. It was fantastic!!

Well, as somebody pointed out on some site, when the decision was made to expand the match day reserves from 5 to 7, the need to keep Boca as an on-the-bench emergency [as Woy did] disappeared. I think he could start in any top league with the exception of England and Italy where his pace would hurt him, and I hope he gets the games necessary to lead us to South Africa in 2010.

Others have posted their favorite Boca moment. Here's mine: getting the winner at Newcastle after Jimmy B went down [we wouldn't win on the road again until we visited Reading a year and a half later], but I'll remember him most for the entire 2006-2007 season. Why? Well, despite being uniformly described here and on other Fulham sites as a marginal squad player at best:

    1. when our midfield was decimated by injuries, he moved to midfield and did a creditable job.
    2. He started at CB, LB, defensive mid and center mid that season and never pulled an Anelka pout once.
    3. When our entire strike force couldn't find the net with a searchlite and a Michelin Guide, he nicked about 8 or 9 critical points on set pieces, making it possible for Deuce's goal against Liverpool to keep us up. He outscored The Scum's Shevchenko that season.

I haven't quite figured out how to break the news of the transfer to the missus. She's a huge fan. But that's the nature of the beast.

Same reason you sign anyone else sooner rather than later: get it finalized before someone else comes in and nicks the player away from us.

The release of Boca is sad. He was good enough to be the first option off the bench on defense for Roy. Now we are losing a back four starter (Stalteri) and the first off the bench. Boca says he wants to stay in the Premier League and will leave things to his agent while he concentrates on his US duties.
With the signing of the Middlesborough goalie and if Brian returns to the States, Eddie Johnson and Clint will be the only Americans. I assume they think highly enough of the 23 year old goalkeeper they signed (long term) recently to bring another senior citizen between the pipes. Could mean Keller is out. I am sad about Boca since I started following Fulham when he joined the Club. Life moves on.

I too hate to see Boca go. He's a quality player, I think better than Hughes, but I'm not Woy so I can't get him a spot. He'll do well at another club, I'm sure. And as has been said above, as long as he is able to elevate his game to lead us to South Africa, I don't care where he plays.

Roy obviously has other plans for the 'other' CB and I would've liked Boca to stay but I trust in Roy. And wouldn't at this point eh?!

As for Stalteri, Josh, I wish it could be as easy as just signing on the dotted line but I can confirm we are in negotiations and Paul is on holiday.

    boca

Was treated badly by Fulham end of story, great servant, played anywhere asked to, scored important goals and just a good all round servant.

My opinion was as good if not better than Konchesky, Salteri, and hughes.

I am full blooded English but hope he plays on Weds and as a great game, he can showcase what he can do against the best England as to offer, he could certainly start for Hull City.

    Good luck Boca

Of course! Can't easily forget that game. I just hope volzy, the other scorer in that game stays with us.

I suppose if woy plans on bringing another top center half in than this was the right thing to do. Let Boca land on his feet. Coleman releasing Leggie a week before the season stands out as the opposite. Anyway I hope he does indeed bring in someone else now. Boca was a good third. Surely either Hageland or Hughes will go down at some point in the season and I don't know if Stefo is a good bet to step in :?

Spence, that was one of my all time favorite Fulham moments. At the time, I'd never see an away end go crazy like that. With that said, I had forgotten Volzy scored and we witnessed the 25,000 goal in the EPL.

That's good to hear - I'm sure Roy is on top of things, and you can hardly begrudge the players some time off!

What about the dropped ball that Helguson put away for Bolton in the rain? That is what I will remember him most for...

I think we should bring Warner back just for all Arsenal games. Can we do a 10-day contract, kind of like the ones in the NBA?
