Since I started a competing thread, I'll bump yours up higher.

Hope it goes well, but then how could a "butt-load of fun for an old fart" have any other outcome.

Looking forward to hearing the result. Will there be secret messages if you play the tracks backward?

As long as it's not "come on you whites" I'm afraid that would get their CD banned for racism.

and, in my never-ending quest for self-promotion, the latest recording blog -- from last night -- is up. Click on the address at the bottom of my signature to go straight there. Oh, and make a comment if you feel so inclined.

Ya know, if you subscribed, you wouldn't get these annoying "hey, look at me; I'm so cute" posts!

And if we didn't get those posts, how much worse off would FUSA be.

We'd feel like Chris Baird getting worked by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Please continue w/ updates Don, I've been throughly enjoying reading about your process while going through the same thing myself (although much less documented/blogged/photographed). You manage to communicate very well the joy and subtleties of the process without simply complaining about how (sometimes) tedious and (always) exhausting recording can be. Did you originally plan on so many sessions? My band was fortunate enough to get what we wanted over last weekend, but we were really close on time. Oddly enough, the final track we squeezed in might be the best of the lot. I'll post information for you (and all) once the final mix is done, probably within the next week or so. Cheers.

    Dtwon,

The band is called 'The Vergers,' and we play out about once a month. Next gig is 6/28 at the Larimer Lounge, a summer BBQ event hosted by Westword. Let me know if you're interested in attending, and I'll get some tickets (and maybe even some free swag) to you. --Brad

Bradical, thanks for the interest and the encouraging comments.

It's taking a long time because we're using four voices, and because travel has messed up our plans. Plus, two songs are "new" -- that is, not battle tested at gigs. We're hoping that the last session or two can be devoted to fill-ins and sweetening sounds.

    Thanks again.

okay; after a month out of the studio, we did an 8 hour session on Saturday the 12th and a four hour one last night.

Just click on the "CD status blog" link in my signature for the lastest entry in our recording blog.

Hint to you young guys. If you're going to play a three-hour outdoor gig in 90+ temperatures Friday night, and follow it with 8 hours in a recording studio the next day, try to do this before you're 61!

Oh, and thanks to those FulhAmericans who pm'd me asking our progress. Things are going VERY well. Enjoy the read.

"let me tell ya'll what it's like
being male, middle class and white
    it's a bitch, if you don't believe
listen up to my new cd
    sham on

i got shit running through my brain
so intense that i can't explain
all alone in my white boy pain
shake your booty while the band complains
    "

And, like my boy Ben, we're about ready to rock the suburbs. It's been a while since I blogged about our recording adventures. And people have been pm'ing me asking about the status. FOR REAL. I wouldn't make this up.

Anyhow, there's a new blog entry. Just click on the url under the words "CD status blog:" and check it out. Three more sessions this month and then everything should be in the bag.

Don't worry; I'll nag you about buying the finished product endlessly!

"We're rockin' the suburbs / just like Quiet Riot did / rockin' the suburbs / except that they were talented"
