Here's a stab in the dark.

Hull over Watford, because Watford has forgotten how to win a game. I understand Aidy has gotten away from using the Cheesehead -- serves him right.

Crystal Palace over Bristol City, BC did a remarkable job running at the front for as long as they did but they've now ran out of gas in the back, and they've done it with smoke and mirrors up front all season.

You Palace fans on the board -- I have Crystal Palace over Hull on a gut feeling. I know Hull beat them 2-1 a few weeks ago, but I think Palace will carry the playoffs. I like how they ended the year, beating Burnley 5-0, an all around thrashing from what I gathered.

I'm not predicting. I've been paying more attention to League1 than the CCC this season. But here's what I'd LIKE to see:

Palace over Bristol City [I'd hate for City to ruin Derby's record as worst team in EPL history; my buddy Tom is a Palace man.]
Watford over Hull [The Cheesehead returns and wins for the Dirty Yellows]
Watford over Palace [I like Aidy and I love the Cheesehead].

I think it comes down to Watford or CP. Though I only judge that on how they have played earlier in the season when I tried to pay attention.

And HD, saw an article on soccernet saying that the entire Luton squad was transfer-listed. That's some heavy stuff.

Not going to pretend to know anything about these teams. However, I'll go w/Palace also. The main reason being is I miss seeing Neil Warnock aka The Troll being interviewed after his team has either lost or has been slighted by the refs (him and Ozzie Guillen of the White Sox are kindred spirits).

Yeah; and that doesn't include the 10-15 players who departed between January 2007 and January 2008. When they were assessed their 10-point penalty, they were mid-table, then they let about 5 starters go and dropped down like a stone.

Anyhow; thanks for commiserating, quicksdraw; now back to the CCC playoffs!

    I like Steve's picks.

Watford's wheels fell off down the stretch and were incredibly lucky (+1 goal difference over Wolves) to even reach the playoffs and Palace's kids have been playing well over the past couple of months.

    Palace! Palace! Palace!

Looks like I put the kiss of misfortune to Palace this weekend.

Ok, I just turned on the recorded match of BC & CP and well Steve, you ruined it for me dammit. :) I knew I shouldn't have read this thread. My bad.

It did prompt a question or two of interest to me, given I have only followed English football since late November of last year.

It appears there is a big rivalry between CP and Fulham, where does this stem from? Does Fulham have a bigger rivalry than Palace?

HD, why Luton? I have read several of your posts referring to them....did you live there while you were on the Island?

I know that QPR are our rivals.

but that's all I know. I wish I were of more use.

Hull City will move up, I never doubt the Tigers. Jay-Jay Okocha is back and he will lead them to victory. I wish I didn't have to root against the lone American, but I will for the greatest dribbler the world has ever seen. "So good they named him twice" so they say.

RR, Yes, I lived about 8 miles from there. My first wife was from Luton, and I first attended Luton matches with her father, a grand gent. Luton's nickname is "The Hatters," and I use that as my handle out of respect to them and my former father-in-law. He passed away on Cup Final Day in 1973.

This has taken a back seat to a match Sunday afternoon, but the playoffs continue.

I, for one, was quite pleased to see Carlisle win at Elland Road yesterday. I've had a soft spot for Carlisle since they got promoted to the old First Division with Luton in 73-74.

Also, I heard someone on the television say that Hull is the largest city in Europe NOT to have experienced top-flight football. Hull also features Boaz Myhill, who refused to play for us at any level [he was born in LA], in hopes of getting an England cap. He just debuted for Wales instead.

Other than the fact that these two clubs are in London, there really is not much of a rivalry between these two teams. Palace's main rival is Charlton and Fulham's is either Chelsea, QPR or Brentford.

As for the playoffs, I am hoping Palace can get it together today and win. They have been strong this season on the road and they will need another strong road performance today to advance to the final at Wembley.

Did you know that if you rearrange the letters in Crystal Palace you get All Cat Crap, Yes?

Nice...if they go up next year, we'll have to turn that one into a song of some kind.

Well as Bristol City are in the final it's down to Bristol City, Hull, and Watford...

I really wouldn't like to see Hull up there, i'm not from england, but from what i've heard a city that size, w/ premiership money. Could be around for a while.

I'd personally like to see Bristol City, they were in L1 last year and could probably be the next Derby. I have no faith in Stoke staying up which would leave only one regulation spot open to fight for, and I think we'd be able to stay up easy.

Watford is shit but do have some prem exp. So i'm hoping for Bristol
