That would be a good road trip, but it's not happening for me either. Would LOVE to win this one. :D

I think it's winnable, to be quite honest. The French have recovered somewhat since last year's WC implosion, but not to the point where they're one of the top European sides right now. It'll be interesting to see who Klinsi calls up and who's fit...on both sides of the pitch.

and what does it mean if we beat France?
and what does it mean if we draw with France?
and what does it mean if we lost to France?

Good question grasshopper. If we beat France, Der Kaiser will re-establish his unproven self as the savior even though Bradley coached the USA to victory over Euro Champs Spain and never received such compliments. We can also enjoy the excuses of the French for how they could lose to such an unrefined team. Maybe even a government inquiry will be necessary. Ahh all good fun.

If we draw France it is a victory for the Furher because the US is inferior to France and Belgium and Mexico and all of Europe. Klinsi has made us aware of our inferiority in soccer, because apparently we didnt have enough of this complex. We should forget the days of striving and believing that anything is possible with a team that never gives up and believes and
    settle for the draw.

If we lose then it shows how smart Klinsi is. We need to keep doing what he says like including the Latin influence that we apparently never allowed before. I guess Orozco and Castillo are more latin than Boca, Bornstein, Gonzalez, and Herculez. Oh and how good is it that so much of the conversation is about race rather than who is the best fit for the USA

A touch of vemon, Ms. Clevelandmo. Very nice. Although, I'm not quite in the anti-Jurgen camp (at least yet), and I didn't see Bradley being replaced when he was (the early deficits made me nuts, but he made some pretty good decisions to come back in the WC matches), but if Bradley was to be dismissed, why didn't the US make damn sure Bielsa wasn't first choice? Maybe he didn't want the gig, true, but, it seemed a great fit. I even think there were reports he was interested.

Oops, I keep telling myself that I'm going to be more positive. While I'm somewhat skeptical of Klinsi, I am actually liking the change from Bradley. I'm with you and FFC 24 and wish it had been Bielsa instead of Klinsi, but other than that I'm fine der Kommissar. I think Bielsa wanted to coach and the US was interested in him as a technical director. Shame because that would've really been something to have him as coach. Chile was my favorite team at the last WC.

The negativity in regards to Klinsmann is really just a reaction to all the accolades he receives from the media and fans. I obviously read too many soccer articles while the boys in the house are watching Top Gear and Storage Wars.

So here are the things I like about der cheerlieter:

-He is outwardly positive and enthusiastic
-He talks to the media more than Bradley
-He is putting pressure on MLS to be more competitive with Europe in terms of player development
-playing fast attacking soccer in friendlies
-we are not starting games down a goal
-his son is not on the team so we dont have the nepotism tension, although this could change since Klinsi's son plays for US U14 team.

Well Bosnia tied with France in Paris 1-1 in qualifier and Bosnia almost beat them. So i think USA has good chance of winning. If Bosnia can tie France in an important game for first place in a group than USA can beat them or at least give them a good game there.

Hope you are correct. It is just that the USA hasnt done much in terms of results lately and often look discombobulated.

The other November friendly has been announced as Slovenia. I guess maybe if we play them again, I can get this image out of my head.

Can't the US schedule Liechtenstein or Luxembourg or some other European minnow that starts with the letter L?

Sarcasm aside, the record speaks for itself. The US is horrid in Europe. While hope springs eternal, there is next to no chance of winning in Paris and that isn't a reflection on the coach, just our history. A draw would be cause to celebrate.

I was thinking the same thing Joe. But we can't run and hide from the challenge...we have to start winning in Europe if we will ever be able take it to the next level. But I see your point...start small and work our way up. :D

I think the US sucks. As Lalas stated at half, 'there's no real difference from now or six years ago.'. Demps isn't getting calls, so please stop falling over. The French goal was coming all along.

And to add: the squad looks disjointed. That is in the final third

I didn't see anything different than the previous 3 games. :| We still play like crap in Europe. Although the team looked a lot better when they started attacking late with in 4-4-2 formation. (hint, hint Klinsmann)

I still have hope though, we just need a full healthy squad to play for the guys to get results. I hope the Gooch is healthy for the Slovenia game.

So, I didn't see anything but the first 20 minutes and the last 35 [thanks Time Warner], but I will say that this is the first international I've seen in Europe where the best player on the pitch was an American. Clint really is at the top of his form.

And, it does appear that JK will be the last person in Germany, France, Slovenia, and the USA to realize that Jozy plays better with a strike partner. Someday I also hope that he realizes that ALWAYS playing the ball out of defense with short, sharp passing accomplishes two things [a] it gives the opponent plenty of time to organize his defense and the chances of giving the ball back while fairly deep in your end increase.

So I don't like his squad selection, his tactics, his substitutions, and his inability to react at half-time to what has been happeing in the first 45. In his favor? Well, he is a snappy dresser, and -- of course -- he speaks English with an accent.

    I wonder how Egypt's doing?

I must say that Clint was class. But I'll add that he did go down soft about a half dozen times.

How does a small attacker push over Goodsen on the goal? Or maybe their feet were tangled?

I don't see any improvement - Bob's last days were not good, but Der Kommissar hasn't been any better. 4 losses in 6 isn't acceptable given the squad performances - THE SQUAD CANNOT SCORE. PLAY WITH TWO REAL FORWARDS. 4-1-3-2 - let Dempsey play in the "3" and put another person with Altidore - who worked his ass off today, cheers to him - who can score.

I don't know, Buddle is a good start b/c the team looked much more attacking with him on the pitch - but there's this fella in Mexico that's been scoring club goals for a few years, maybe, just maybe, he'll score for the US given the chance again. If given my druthers, I'd put Donovan as the second striker and use Gomez as a sub.

Just frustrated, because overall, the defense and Howard were pretty good today. The offense, well, not so much.

Agree about 2 forwards (something I think I've stated previously here). Also agree about counterattacking quicker on change of possession in our end. Definitely some changes needed...but, perhaps there's some method in the madness, i.e, gotta learn to crawl before you walk, etc., etc. Still, these guys should already know how to do either, right? Break out fast or slowly, right? I think I prefer fast. Thank God for little Timmy back there. It's an old cliche, but he really did keep us in this one. Doesn't matter, however, if we can't mount a reasonable fascimile of an attack. SOME improvement in that regard would be welcome...COME ON YOU YANKS!
