No, not the REAL Spam... it's much older.

    Internet Spam is 30 today.

For the newbies, here, we old guys see this as proof karma actually exists.

When that first spam went out, DEC {Digital Equipment Corp} was riding high as the 'IBM of Mid size Computers'. DEC was responsible for the Boston 'burbs being referred to as 'Silicon Valley, East'

Within a decade and a half, they had shrunk in relevance to the point where PC maker Compaq bought them for a pittance. Which was before HP {a DEC competitor, but for mainly technical apps} bought Compaq, in turn.

Fog, you have just aged yourself. Interesting article, I don't recall getting my first bit of SPAM until the early 90's. I still prefer the real thing...parts is parts. :)

Actually, commercial Spam{tm} came in second to the government 'Commodity meats' which we occasionally traded for on trips to Eastern Kentucky in the seventies. We didnt want to know what was in it, of course but the flavor was really good.

The cheese, a mild cheddar, was also pretty good.. in fact guvmint cheese got me hooked on cheddars.
