but given there is a 90% chance Fulham goes down, who are you going to 'get behind' in the EPL next year, if they are not there?

Generally speaking, I seem to have a need to root for something or someone to get excited about watching a whole season of games or any sport for that matter. I suppose you could root against a team/s to keep it interesting but do you add a 2nd team, to keep you interested? Or does just watching a quality match do it for you in general. I'm finding I like watching good matches, but I always pick a team of the two at some point in the match.

I have already started to consider what teams I may watch with more interest while Fulham plays to get back in the EPL in 2009-2010.

    Anyone having the same conflict?

I'll be rooting for the clubs who are hovering just outside the big four (Villa, Everton, Citeh, Portsmouth) to find a way to knock the big boys down a peg.

And for West Ham to lose.

Hmm...I would say Everton. I like David Moyes, and it's easy for me to cheer for Timmy boy. Plus, I really like Cahill, Lescott, and Jagielka. I can put up with Neville if I have to.

I am sure Gentleman Jim will do an expert job of keeping me filled in on game activity and the fine members of this board will provide me with the same quality repartee I have come to enjoy. Fulham will always be home regardless of the division and I will continue following Fulham first.

However, if Fulham goes down and I cannot find a reliable means of watching the games I will probably pick a "foster" team. You know some team to take an interest in and watch over for a bit knowing full well that it can never replace Fulham. If Fulham goes down and I can find a reliable means of watching the Championship matches I will watch PL matches without any other rooting interest.

Much like omsdogg I find myself rooting for Everton when I watch them play but it just is not the same.

I'm sort of split between Villa, Middlesbrough and Everton as well. I like to watch Tottenham but they are a little too Hollywood for me to be a suragate or foster team. I like the thinking around picking a team that can knock off a big four. I just hope we can get a few FFC games on Setanta or FSC.

I won't support another Premier League side, but I will pay attention to the Prem as much as possible. I imagine it will be rather painful not to see Fulham playing against the top sides... We'll see if I can get past that.

Good thing I have Bremen to fall back on. Hopefully Frings, Diego, Naldo, Mertesacker and Rosenberg can do a better job of toppling Bayern next season. Should keep me distracted.

Maybe it's the single table format of the Premiership, but I don't have a soft spot for another team. Will still enjoy the quality of play that the Prem provides, but the rooting interest will reside in the league below.

    This might be Sacrilege . . .

    "Might be" ???

    Oh, the agony.

Going down would mean my wife will be happy that I won't be getting out to go the bar on Saturday mornings, or glued to FSC. However, it will mean I will be huddled by the computer, trying to listen to GJ as often as possible.

If Fulham goes down, I will watch every EPL game on FSC and yell at the TV "I hope you go down, I hope you know that pain" Then I will meticuously plot the downfall modern civilization, except SW6 of course.

I've already talked about this. In a way, I'll enjoy the EPL more than I have this season and last, because I WON'T have a rooting interest. I'll watch Liverpool and Arsenal as much as I can because I think they play the most intersting football in the Prem, but there's only one team for this little black duck, and the Prem won't be nearly so important until our boyz are BACK!

I've always considered Liverpool my "second" team, as they are the underdogs of the Big Four, and they were my first experience of the EPL when I got to visit Anfield when I was a teenager.

I enjoy watching Arsenal because of the game they play. I will follow teams with US players, and I would like to see if Bradley makes it to the EPL next season. It will be interesting to see what defections are going to occur over the summer.

I'll drink to that...I won't support another club just have a team that I sort of prefer to win each game...but if they don't I won't give two shits...unless its Ch***ea pulling another bullshit win out of their hat like early Saturday...then I may get pissed...

...I'm putting my Coca-Cola back in the fridge now and pulling out my Barclay's investment paperwork after the win over Citeh...

...come to think of it, after today I kind of like Citeh, but still not enough to pull for...

    UP FULHAM!!!!!!!!

I'm with you Ridge Rider, I'll need a team to follow in the EPL next year or I probably won't follow it that closely. I've always liked the Toon and lately their form has been pretty darn good so they will probably be the ones. Everton are also a consideration. My heart, and my strongest support, however, will always be with Fulham.

Honestly, if Fulham drops I am not sure what I'll do. My support for Fulham is two-fold, due to the number of Yanks on the team and the battles they are going through in not getting regulated. I've always been a fan of the "underdog" role of teams. I will continue to watch FSC/EPL matches. Not a fan of the big four, although I can appreciate the level of play I generally like to see parity in sports.

I simply would not watch the English Premier League (EPL) as often. Instead, I might find a new league-- the Bundesliga, Eredivisie, Perhaps the Portuguese First Division, and watch them instead. Naturally, I would take a much keener interest in the English Championship and would watch the ocassional EPL match on Boxing Day or New Years Day more out of tradition, unless of course Our Whites are playing concurrently. And, I would very likely watch more of other sports like Cricket, especially if there is a good five test international series; none of this limited overs play though like that new league in India.

But follow another English team? No, Fulham are quite enough football team for me indeed, thank you.
