From TheBishop of the Episcopal Church:

So please pray that we all do something about those cow farts...

... Oh.. and Rejoice! For Christ is Risen.

    Almost as Bad:

Jesus and his friends ate supper. The End

That's interesting. The Crucifixion and Resurrection was about the LEAST scary thing I remember about Church as a little kid.

For you that dont follow such trivia, churches that espouse this sort of hogwash are bleeding membership.

    Good.

HD, you don't see a problem with a "christian" church not teaching pre-schoolers about the crucifixion? And the Bishop of the Episcopal Church? Seriously, shame on her for using Easter to spew her propaganda.

I agree with 'fog on these ones.

My church doesn't detail the crucifixion to 5 year olds; but does put a lot of focus on the resurrection (which is really the reason for the Easter celebration, isn't it?).

I must admit, that it does seem strange to celebrate Easter without discussing the crucifixion, but here's the source of my snipe:

I don't have a laundry list of rules that other people's churches must adhere to if they don't want to be condemned by me. If people find comfort in churches whose practices seem strange to me, then good for them and good for their churches. Nobody tells me I have to attend them, and since they don't, it's none of my business what they do in theirs.

It wasn't a discussion of if it was our business or not. I viewed it more as a discussion of if we agree or not. I agree 100%, I don't belong an Episcopalian Congregation, and therefore, leave it up to them what they want to discuss. HOwever, I do think it's wrong to use Easter as a time to voice political concerns.

And if it's not our business, then we must forgo sniping memes at the Vast Right Wing Christian Conspiracy, as well.
Or pointing out how the Roman Church essentially supported "Convert or Be Killed" when exploring the Americas. Same as extreme Islamists do now.
or worrying about how a Mormon might be affected by his religion if President.
For that matter the Mormon - Polygamy question.

Or Calvinists and their missionary tactics. Or Baptists in any public schools not ours, wanting to teach Intelligent Design...

    ergo?

okay, I guess I'm wrong. You go ahead, Pettyfog, with your series of posts detailing which churches aren't Christian enough to please you. I'm the only one who thinks it's presumptuous of you, ERGO I must be wrong. I'll go away, and everyone else can bask in the light of your holy truth.

I think that sometimes it is easier to view everything cynically. But if the Bishop really does feel that cows’ flatus is an issue for south sea islanders then she has a moral obligation to voice it. Likewise, is teaching a 5 year old about crucifixion really necessary?

I think that we have a right to question religion and relgious beliefs, and we can only do this from the point of view of our own moralality. So, 'Fog has every right to question the church because his morality is based in cynisism and I don't doubt for a minute that Don would not heistate to question and past judgement on a church where human sacrafice occured?

I don't think this is a question about degrees of Christianity.

You said your piece, like everyone else. Dont go away in a snit.

BTW: No One has to point out how poor a 'Christian' I actually AM!

But I refuse to stop poking fun at Creationists or Evolution deniers {Right OR Left}, too.
