Well, my rooting interest died when UNC did, but I must say that downtown was a mess for us locals. First we were told over the radio that several downtown blocks were closed to traffic from Thursday morning unti Tuesday morning to facilitate certain events. To get details, we were told, check out the official Final Four website. We did, and were told all about the events and nothing about the closures. Naturally, there was nothing in the paper about them.

Saturday night's gig was interesting. We had almost nobody in the restaurant that was under 40, which is unusual for a place that attracts young families. That was, I'm sure, due to the tourney.

There were reports of 50,000 tourists who were in town for the four-six day weekend, and I'm sure they were pleased with the Picture Postcard weather, and I'm sure we're all pleased with the money they left here.

Last word about the b-ball, my brother is always right [he said confident that his brother would rather die than check out a soccer site]. Guard play and hitting freethrows was the difference between Kansas and Memphis.

Nemmind ... regardless of what those yahoos at Augusta National say, the #1 sports event in the US is shut down for another year. And good for Kansas. They may not be able to teach science in their public schools, but they can win basketball tournements!

And speaking of science, it wasn't until this weekend that I found out that a Jayhawk is a hybrid [or is that mutant] of a blue jay and a hawk. If that's the case, together they do a lot better in sports than they do separately -- huh Atlanta and Toronto!

I pick Kansas. (Well, since they won it all last night, it's not a hard choice.)
