Added: If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.. good reasons to believe that is photoshopped. {see below} It disappeared from the gallery in that link above; though a web, news and blog google search pulls up NO OUTRAGE that it's a fake photo. And neither does bolshevik.org

In the meantime, here's a certifiable loony zombie shot:

Fog, I went through both pages of your attachment, and looked at what must have been 75-100 photographs and didn't see the one that "graces" your post. Did you photoshop that one from some other place in order to make the Berkeley protests seem more extreme than they were?

I thought the photo/video/commentary was pretty much spot on -- we were in Oakland the day the protest occurred, and this is pretty much the sort of stuff we saw on television that evening. The only thing I'd like to point out, that what you saw was a confrontation between groups of Americans with opposing [and at times incomprehensible] viewpoints -- not pro-Americans and pro-terrorists.

Although I must admit there wasn't nearly so much of this as in other similar treatments of war protest in America these days. Certainly by this time, reasonable people don't still believe that unless you are pro-Bush, pro-Cheney, and pro-War you can't be pro-American. Do you?

Waiting to hear about your "cover photo."

Two days later and still waiting to hear about the cover photo you began this thread with.

In addition to not seeing the photo in the extensive report you linked, nor reading any reference to it in the text -- and why would they have passed either up?!?!?! -- I logged onto the website on the man's sign, and couldn't find any reference to their being involved in the Berkeley protest. I did, however, find several protests by this group related to Beirut -- in 2003, 2005, 2007.

Come on, 'fog ... where'd you get the photo? Didn't you think that the link you posted was inflammatory enough? What's next ... you gonna photoshop Nancy Pelosi's head so it looks like she's carrying the sign?

    Fair and balanced, Pettyfox?

Well, you may be right. I assure you the photo WAS in that collection on Zombie, though I used the copy from LGF, which still has it.

There's no hits, either on google web search or blog search protesting the authenticity of it, but a clue is that the shot is 'standalone' and the sign doesnt appear anywhere else in the collection.

I have no idea what 'zombie's' motivation might be there - and there's no way to contact him easily.. as you might guess.

But we'll see what Charles Johnson says - my email to him:

    - along with a link to this thread

So... you watched the 'fair and balanced coverage' on Bay Area media?

I see... and thanks for this, coupled with your typical tirade on MY motives.
Actually I thought the photo essay bore that out... unless you were looking with a jaundiced eye.
    -But-
I'm just gonna retroactively fit your agenda:
CodePink IS de facto pro-terrorist, PERIOD!

If you want to point out the use and application of terrorism as a political force, otherwise... I would be glad to listen and consider.

Don, when Berkeley produces the likes of that Walker kid who actually fought for the Taliban do you really want to argue this one?

He was from Marin County, a short drive away, but it's the same song in a different key.

And there is a reason that in military circles the town is known as Bezerkley.

Aw, come on, Mo; you want to trash an entire city because on one confused teenager? Do you really automatically assume that anything done in Berkeley is anti-American and pro-terrorist? You? Come on, Mo.

Fog, thanks for checking on the photo. The one you've appended, which I did see in the article, works just as well.

The photo essay did a good job. The ONLY thing I objected to were the labels "pro-terrorist" and "pro-American." This assumes an absolutism that can't be borne out by facts.

Oh, and as for what the local CBS affiliate covered, it was 2 minutes -- actually, about 15 seconds of studio intro and wrap-up total and the rest was film. There was no commentary. Evidently, this sort of thing has been going on for a while in Berkeley, and the in-studio folks were basically treating it as a follow-up. I think the next story was a warehouse fire.

Don, I didnt trash Berkeley. I'm just not going to minimize the type of behavior many in positions of influence have exhibited.
