Shocked. Shocked. And yet again Shocked.

Makes no sense. He showed great run on ability and that Norwich goal was a stroke of lightning. Not sure exactly what happened:
"In addition to the players released, Orlando Sa’s contract with the Club has been terminated. The decision is a mutual agreement between the player and the Club."

...but this summer has been the weirdest I have ever seen in my relatively shorty time following Fulham.

    In Jol We Trust.

I thought this season would give Sa more chances and that he'd come good to us. I didn't care much for the way Jol buried his youngsters after one misstep or after one injury. Perhaps he didn't either.

Best of luck young feller and a long and fruitful career to you.

Not quite so shocking. I suspect it comes down to 2 words, Marcello Trotta. Trotta made great strides last year, is over 4 yrs younger than Sa and has been in the Fulham system since '09, while Sa just joined us last year. I suspect both players were competing for the 4th striker slot and in that light, letting Sa go to pursue more regular football elsewhere makes sense. That would suggest we're going to sign 2 more strikers in addition to Petric...or we plan on having Dempsey and/or Ruiz as coverage. I'd bet on the former.

All of the above is just speculation on my part, but it makes sense. I'd been told when we signed him that Sa had been a bit of an underachiever at his previous stops and would be a project for us. Don and I talked about it at the time.

Don't really care about this move at all. Much rather have Trotta playing instead of Sa who couldn't score in the Red Light District in Amsterdam. I think Trotta can replace his lone goal with no problems.

I doubt any of us saw this coming. It does make me curious if this was for football or non-football reasons and whether or not there are some imminent striker signings about to be announced.

I am not sure I fully understand the burying comment at all HD. Care to elaborate?

Fulham FC just did an article (http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsA ... lHope.aspx) on him wanting to succeed this year and getting more chances then poof! Gone. So to me it was, but yes, 100% agree I want Trotta up top.

Question is, when will he get first team chances? Who if anyone will be his partner? Is Jol looking to play a 4-5-1 or a 4-3-2-1 or take after Vicente del Bosque and do a 4-6-0?!?

Here's the thang [as we say in Texas]: Marcello Trotta is our ONLY signed striker. The entire universe knows we'll need 2-3 more before the window closes. This increases our demand for incoming talent and increases the price we'll have to pay to fill that gap. It's simple economics that you don't make yourself overtly vulnerable when it's signing time, because you'll be well and truly rogered.

Yeah, I was thinking something similar to that before Sa was let go. But Fulham have signed Petric, only for a 1 year deal though.

I agree with Don's theory in principle, except we did sign Petric and I don't know that anyone would look at a roster of Petric, Sa & Trotta and not think we still need strikers.
