Solid writing, good points well developed, and a solid read throughout. Well done, gentlemen. Let's hope Waldo gets a gig with FSC and Max Bretos's butt never hits the floor on the way out! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

    RE: New FFC editorial

    Kind words, Don.

Hope everyone enjoys the editorial, and that Wynalda continues to inject his knowledge, perspective, and enthusiasm on as influential a stage as possible.

Soccer in America is better for having him as an active advocate.

Kind of odd that people that are excellent in the studio often are akward and a fishes out of water in the game booth.

Well done PCB and 'fog, I had to do a bit of reading around the subject to make real sense of it, but the chatroom comments now have some context.

I hope this Wynalda chappie contiunes to court controversy as it is good for the game, besides he did appear to have a valid point about this Rome guy, sounds a bit of a blouse to me - not liking football [tut], that would have got him bullied at my school and he would have had to play netball with the rest of the girls.

Thank you GBFC, and a very good point. 'Fog it may make sense to have a link to the "controversial interview", if for nothing else than reference.

agree with FFC, not sure i remember the interview. Or what he said on Rome, or if it's the same.

Such B.S. Wynalda was awesome, he told it like it was all the time and he gets punished for it. Wynalda was the only ESPN guy that opinion mattered to me. Oh yeah and excuse my language but FUCK JIM ROME.

How could they fire him, but continue to subject us to Foudy? Just awful...

Thanks for the editorial. I too hope he ends up in the studio, but I also liked him doing play-by-by. His opinions were entertaining and I loved the fact that it was obvious how much he cares about soccer in this country. For that reason, I hope stays involved with the domestic game rather than the international.

    ESPN buys out Waldo's contract

per Ives, ESPN has cut Waldo loose by buying out his contract
    http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_i ... wynal.html

Damn shame. Doubt Ives himself is to bent out of shape about it given that he seemed to be outright calling for Waldo's head after the wild fire gaff. Maybe he'll endup on FSC, doubt they pay as well though.

    RE: ESPN buys out Waldo

I prefer Foudy to Waldo - Foudy at least tries to focus on the game and doesn't talk just because she loves the sound of her own voice.

I'm glad Waldo is gone - good riddance I say.

I missed Waldo last night. Harkes was such a great player, and is such a sucky commentator. Dempsey had a poor match? Jozy, uh "Mr. Altidore would never show dissent to an official. He's a gentleman." Sheeesh.

    Well, yer entitled.
But I dont know how you just skip to the end post without reading the article or arguments. WE ALL AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT WALDO.. relating to the booth commentary.
    -but-
As said unlimited times before, Waldo kicks Foudy's butt in studio game analysis

I cant say I agree that Foudy's sideline/booth commentary is all that more incisive than Waldo's though.

I'm sorry, but Foudy, to me, doesn't do it for me in the booth or studio. Sideline duty, I am okay with. She's our Pam Oliver, just not as good looking.

Not a fan of the ESPN booth team at all (Derrick Rae should do the play by play), to be honest I watched the match on the spanish station.
