Its pretty depressing around here... There is more action in the non-fulham forums then the ones that actually relate to the team that has brought us all here in the first place. What a sad time for the club and the site - I dont think anyone even knows what to say! What can you say at a time like this? It seems as if we are all just fed up. There have been many times where I have been on a team and we all knew that things were not as they should be. The silence after the match at the practices on the days that follow.... Painful! It is easy to point out all of the faults with the club and the mistakes that have been made. Its a disaster! Slipped into the bottom three? Can we really be that bad? We need some cheering up!
A win over Wigan would cheer as lot of people up. I guess I look at it and while I am saddened by the play of the team this season, I am more nervous as to what is going to happen to this team in the next five months. The thought of relegation scares me and I would hate to see the team go down. However, it is possible. That is what is scaring me into silence. I still think we will avoid the drop, but actions speak louder than my words and Fulham needs to win a few matches.
Sometimes you have to reach the bottom before you can start back up. Maybe this heartbreaking loss will be the motivation for renewed effort on everyone's part. Let's hope so. COYW
Even worse is HOW the W's are losing. How many matches have the W's pissed away points in the last 10 minutes of the game. I ranted about that in a previous post and I don't feel like going over it again, but geez. I can see the chance Konchesky gave away against Cech at Abramovich stadium in stoppage time. Since he's a defender I am sure there are others better on the ball than him, but crying out loud, he was all by himself. Ugh This team is better on paper than they are playing, and there are no games played on paper.
Re: RE: Low, Low, Low... Spot on Tom. I couldn't agree more. The general demeanor in which I've discussed Fulham as of late with friends and rival fans is rather depressing and cumbersome. All of us invest a fair amount of time into following Fulham and always hope for the best, but we've been treated to the worst more often than not. Still... I am hoping the Whites can pull themselves out of their poor form. McBride and Bullard will be two amazing additions to the side and no one can question their motivation. They should give the side the proper kick up the backside that is well past due. I would hate Fulham to become a club that has the revolving door for managers, but is Lawrie the answer? Does he instill the belief in the side that they can win matches? Are his tactics sound? Why does he continually play certain players out of position? Not sure how it will all work out, but I just want Fulham to avoid the drop come May.
what really scares me is that the present performance is not just a trend or run of poor form, but that its not going to turn around. we can all say "it'll get worse before it gets better" but i dont believe that at all. take saturday: the continual davis/murphy pairing with davis being non-existent, the offense cant muster a goal against a team that didnt want to be there, players passing it directly to the other team, no creativity but relying on the long ball, shocking set pieces, late goals conceded.... and all of these tenets have been going on ALL season, especially in the past 5 games. and not to be a 'negative ned' a la people on the offal, but i really dont see things getting better under LS.
yeah...it's tough to continue to be positive after some of the stuff we've had to endure this season...and it's not even x-mas yet! I think the African Nations Cup will be pivotal for us. There are going to be a lot of good players from a lot of teams that will be gone, and now that we don't have Diop we won't be losing anyone...plus we may gain a few players back (hopefully McBride & Bullard in particular...Volzy too.) We need to take advantage of that and come away with some positive results especially during that time.
I'm not fed up with what has gone on. I expected a tough year and that is what we're getting. As I've said before, not winning against Middlesbrough, Wigan, and Sunderland has hurt us badly. Games against a resurgent Newcastle aren't really that winnable even at home. Newcastle just has way more talent than Fulham and they have finally figured out how to play again. A win against Wigan is a must though.
