Just as loss of sight results in the sharpening of the other senses, infirmities and handicaps such as Dyslexia can foster success, IF you see it as something you can overcome.

I'll attest to that. My mentor and boss in my L/N career was a dyslexic. He delegated a LOT.. not only tasks but ideas to follow up on. Which is why I have a patent, as 'co-inventor'. He was magnanimous.. he already had 3 of them.

    RE: Dyslexic? It

My best engineering professor didnt learn to read until 3rd grade (i.e. probably dyslexic) and he attributed that difficulty to his superior teaching abilities. My son is mildly dyslexic ( I think anyway because the schools refuse to "label" it) and he is damn good at problem solving. Also the head of the Cleveland Clinic, the institution that is single-handedly keeping Cleveland alive, is dyslexic. In short, I tend to agree

Well, I'd rather my son not be in the same company with Tom Cruise and Cher but Da Vinci, Faraday, George Washington, Nolan Ryan, and John Lennon aint too shabby.

Last time I went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame they had several of John Lennon's grammar school report cards on display. Judging from the teachers' comments, it makes sense that he had dyslexia.

This reminds me. My former pastor got his new church in Cleveland this fall and, just before he left town, he and his family came to one of our gigs. I chatted with him between sets and told him that, when we got elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we'd come and sing in his church. He said, "If you get elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I'll let you sing."

    Cool dude.

ADD is similar. I have ADD (relatively mild case, I think) and there are times it hampers me, but there are also times it helps me. Medicine has helped with the problems while I think not interfering with the positives.
