Looking forward to the opening match at the Dyanamo's new stadium tomorrow. Last Sunday I did a Dynamo Charity 5k that started and finished by the new grounds. Looks reeaaalllly cool. No doubt it will be a great soccer venue. Need to get the boys back up the standings. Not sitting too bad given they've been on the road damn near 2 months. In Vancouver right now flying home in a few minutes...did see quite a few folks in Whitecap regalia.

Socal it was really good. We were in the ass end behind the goal all the way up in the last aisle, but had a great view of the pitch anyway. It was a festival scene in and outside the stadium. You could tell people were truly happy we have a soccer specific stadium. Ching missed a sitter, but Davis had a nice goal. Glad we got the victory. I will be headed for shaded seats next time.

My only complaint is the concessions lines were a bit long at times, however this was opening day and sold out. Now that I think about it, it wasn't all that bad.

Fogot how to post a photo, if I figure it out, I will post the view from our seats.

Congrats to Houston on the opening of BBMVVVB Compass (?) stadium. Huge deal and I''m sure it is the best stadium in MLS. My mother lives in Houston. She has never understood my love for soccer, but with all the hullabaloo in Houston with the new stadium she is sending me articles and asking all sorts of questions about soccer. Even at nearly 80 yrs of age she is turning the corner so I can only imagine the number of younger Houstonians that are doing the same. Let's all remember Lamar Hunt at this point, and give thanks. I cant wait to go to a game there. I'm targeting the first time the USA plays there.

Very happy for Ching and all the long time Dynamo guys like Davis and Dom Kinnear. Dynamo - the best in MLS!

Re: MLS - 2012 Season, the Klinsmann effect

    Remember this,

A year and a half later what do TFC have to show for this? A 0 - 8 - 0 MLS record, the worst start ever in MLS history, despite having the third highest payroll in MLS and a rabid fanbase.

Be very afraid national team fans about our upcoming WC qualification.

DC United!!!! That was one nice performance last night against Colorado. This year is a lot more promising than last 4, that's for sure.

Much needed trade for Agudelo, kid needs to play. Noticed in the article that there were offers from "foreign clubs" turned down, which I'm glad to see.

Didn't see it (maybe DallasBill can elaborate), but disappointing that Brek Shea got suspended for 3 games for kicking a ball at an assistant referee.

Pappa does the double to FCD

Understand, we are a pathetic team right now desperately looking for something to turn a season around. I usually watch games at my own peril with some anti-depressants and a pepto chaser. That said, this was one of those where you continue to watch the television after the game is over and pithy commentary is still in your ears while your trying to figure out how in the world instant replay could be possible in the MLS.

I'll try to be brief; Pappa (ChiFire) takes a long fifty fifty ball down with his left tricep, relocates the ball just in time for two of our team full of boneheads (aka FC Dallas) takes him down in the box. HANDBALL!! No we're not lucky enough for that. Not this year. So it's off to the spot we go with a lot of bewildered blue hoops looking on. The same guys who watch as Grazzini (Fire) steps up and plunks a real Judy so close to Hartman that he almost dives past it before deflecting it. The same guys who look on as Pappa steps in almost 4 steps inside the 18 before Grazzini strikes and then cooly taps the rebound past Hartman for what would go on to be the game winning goal. Are you kidding me? He's takin a piss, right? Tell me he saw that? What was the AR looking at? It's not like they were looking through traffic and didn't see it.

One of you long time soccer (football) people please tell me that that's somebody's job on penalties. Just to watch the line to make sure no one crosses. I've seen Rooney and others be a step inside and everyone goes balistic and the referees just missed it. But I'm saying a step and a half and Pappa could have taken the penalty himself. That's how far inside the 18 he was.

    ABSOLUTELY TAKING A PISS!! :angry-banghead:

Breathing...cushions back on the couch...forehead veins subsiding...temperature returning to normal..........

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! :angry-banghead:

DC has extended their lead in 1st!!! Didn't watch the game but from the match-highlights it looked like they flat-out stole the game in Chester, PA. Also, Adu had some excellent passes from the wings, may that continue for him and he gets another call in the national team camp. Perhaps for the August Mexico friendly?

I was there and you are right. Philly outplayed DC and had much more time in the box. DC was especially vulnerable to fast breaks down the right side. Adu looked good--he was in the middle of it all for them.

My daughter (4 years old) wished me a happy father's day this morning and then asked me if I would like to go on a date with her. She and I will be attending the next Crew home game. Very excited to take her to her first game.
