Agreed. Hoping it's just a new manager asserting himself and that once we get into competitive matches we'll get the player names and go back to some of the numbering we're used to. It's also got to be hurting merch sales, no?

Trying to keep my head about me at this point with JK. But the gloves come off once we get to qualifying next year.

I am beginning to wonder if people are just giving Klinsmann a hard time about the numbers just because it's another thing to complain about...and if Bradley had done something like this we wouldn't have heard any complaints. Instead I wonder if we would have heard how wonderful it is to place the team before the individual. I'm on the fence about Klinsmann...I liked him a lot as a player, but as a coach I don't know if he has acumen to be a competent tactician for an entire team. But complaining about the number philosophy is something I just can't see worth complaining over. I kinda like it...it says to a player "this is your role, now own it." I think it fits perfectly with the US national team, not many outstanding world class individuals but they work hard as team to punch above their weight.

There will many things to complain about Klinsmann's reign in the future but the number handout is not high on my list...at all.

Damn you Heather why do you have to be so right all the time.

I'm overly critical of Klinsmann because I hear and read too many people treat him like he's the savior of US soccer. He also gets credit for things others did but didnt get much credit for doing or were even criticized for doing.

However, there are things I'm enjoying about the Klinsmann reign so I think it is time I start being a little more balanced. I do want him to succeed after all.

I think you're oversensitive about some of our reactions to Klinsmann, Senator. I don't think any of my cricisms have been based on any predisposition I have towards disliking the guy. I weighed all the options and cleansed myself of all emotion before I criticized him for:

    1. his defensive formations
    2. his uniform number system
    3. his compllcity in the Wall Street collapse
    4. his role in breaking up The Beatles
    5. his kidnap of the Lindbergh baby

and I almost resent you implying that this is not the case. [sniff, sniff]
