I've seem Bresciano play several time for Australia. I can't see him being a good fit. He's not a hard tackling, holding midfielder. He's a relatively lightweight attacking player. Not what we want I wouldn't have thought.

Cristiano Lucarelli...apparently we made some overtures for this guy.

Cristiano Lucarelli arrived in Ukraine and certainly will remain there for a week. In seven days, he will travel to Turkey with the rest of Shakhtar. In March, then Ukrainian championship will resume for the remaining 12 games.
Contrary to what has been published by the Italian papers, it is almost certain that the player will conclude the season in the orange shirt. The latest news coming from Ukraine seems to indicate that the player is unlikely to be transferred during this market window.

Despite the courtship of Parma, Torino, Fulham, Middlesborough, Wolfsburg and Genoa it seems almost impossible that Shakhtar will allow Lucarelli to leave for less than 7 million. Even a loan does not seem practicable as the Ukrainian club is asking for at least two million euros.

You could knock me over with a feather if we get Lucarelli. Shocked, in an extremely good way, would be me.

Which is why I think, "no chance." This guy wants to play Champions League football. More likely to go to a team that can provide such.

here's a little more about him:

"Leyrielton, 19, is contracted to Goias until summer 2011, but the Brazilian club's sports manager, Orislei Santos, has confirmed that a deal with the west London Premier League club is moving towards a conclusion. Leyrielton has made just a single sub appearance for his Brazilian club so far this season."

"The highly rated Goias left back is believed to be discussing terms with the Premier League strugglers after the two clubs agreed a fee for the player."

although I'm seeing other places that say he's a right back.

A young Braqzilian defender. I am just guessing but this may be one for the future. According to Wikipedia he is 19 and plays left back.

One thing is for sure, our defense has been okay, but not great this season. It never hurts to strengthen that area of the team. A midfielder that can gain and hold possession would be nice too. And the Marlon King signing would be good.

Let's hope Roy has something up his sleeve for us over the next few weeks with his transer dealings.

Unless Watford is desperate for funds I can't imagine them even accepting double that bid. While Watford has drifted back to the pack in the Championship (notice that it started when DeMerit got hurt) they are still in a good position to gain promotion, why would they sell their top scorer?

I've got faith in Roy and I'm sure he's keeping it close to the vest, but I would love to hear a rumor about a holding mid...soon

I'm not too sure. Supposedly he has only scored 11 goals this season and hasn't even been a guaranteed starter, so I don't thk Fulham should go more than 4-4.5m mark. If we did get him at that price, I'd be ok with it but it's yet another gamble on a championship striker.

Before his injury last season, I thought he was their best player. We will see...

...on a side note, it's nice to see we have the funds.

I agree w/you Mike I wouldn't pay much more either, but where are we going to find a striker of prem quality for less than 6-7 mill?

Here's to hoping Big Mac sees a reserves match in the next week or two.

i don't see them selling either unless it's for an outrageous sum which I'd prefer not to pay.

We actually went out and got a player from Brasil and he is a fullback which is even better as we all know Brasil produces plenty of talent at that position. This shows me that we are scouting all throughout the world and have even spotted players as far as South America. This is a good sign as I have been pretty harsh on this club in the past for sticking to the UK for players.
