    RE: Volz/John to Southampton

Would be terrible to see Volzy go. He, in my opinion, still has a future at this club provided Lawrie gives him a chance. I think it is pretty clear that John is through. The depth at the striker position is fantastic and he is 5th choice at best.

I wouldn't mind seeing John go. It isn't that I think he is a poor player, I just think he won't get any meaningful playing time if he sticks around.

And I've yet to really see Volzy play, but I'd hate to see ANY defender leave considering our lack of depth there.

After watching that garbage yesterday and seeing Baird get beat like a red-headed stepchild for the 10 thousandth time, I just had to start this thread in hopes that just the rumors of an incoming right back will at the least settle the ulcers I'm having. I also think we need a good CB. What say ye?

Sounds good to me. I think I remember LS saying after the transfer window was closed that he might not be done spending, and would examine the team in January. Something along those lines anyway. If McBride and Bullard could get back, that would be like getting two great signings.

I just want to see another back brought in so we have more options. A Konchesky-like replacement for Baird would be great.

I think Baird will still get playing time against slower teams, but we need someone to answer up to the attacks being thrown down that side all night long.

Yep, it would seem I was wrong that Baird might prove out in that game, fronting Keller.

But on the CB .. just who could Fulham get, anyway. It's almost certain you'd have to go down a level to find anyone who would be worth the money. And there's still risk.

Fulham should go after Landon Donovan. LA will not be able to keep both him and Beckham and I with the success of other Americans lately he's feeling the pressure.

First, I don't believe Fulham should chase Donovan, however, I'd choose Donovan over John anyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Is Landy really worse than anybody else wearing the shirt that also cannot put the ball into the net??

Fulham should pry Crouch from Liverpool on loan in January, and then Fulham can lob long balls up to Crouch, and then Fulham will be guaranteed similar success to that of the English national team....oh wait....

my Collins John comparison had little to do with Landon's talent, rather his propensity to pout and take that petulance out onto the pitch. Leave him hear his CA beach and he'll be fine.

Beside, chirobob, having a healthy Beckham will make Landon even more of a star. Becks is the guy to get those laser-guided passes when Landon turns on the jets. They're going to have a lot of fun together in LA.

Anyone who symbolizes kissing his dogs before a penalty kick is suspect.

THAT'S what he's doing? That being the case, I think he's probably not paying enough attention to his new wife. I volunteer to pick up the slack on that.

Landycakes would prefer to walk his dogs in Hermoso Beach than attempt to prove his worth in Europe. How bout these three guys...McBride, Bullard, and Cook?? Hopefully all three will be ready to give it a go in Jan.

my crazed-analogy: "cakes" is to a footballer what spinal tap is to rock and roll: both are quite skilled and an occassional pleasure to watch, but both are also completely contrived.

cups and cakes, cups and cakes, i'm so full my tummy aches...

    my meds aren't working today.
