Muslim ambassadors: 'Sweden needs to change its laws'

About a published caricature of a dog-bodied Mohammed tied to a post:

Ambassadors from Muslim countries have indicated that they intend to present the Swedish prime minister with a list of demands when they meet for talks on Friday.

Fredrik Reinfeldt invited the ambassadors from 20 Muslim countries to government offices on Friday following a wave of protests from Muslim countries after the publication of a caricature of Muhammad in local newspaper Nerikes Allehanda. ....

Perhaps the ambassadors will threaten to not allow emigration to Sweden?

The answer is obvious! Repeal all laws against 'hurtful writings and drawings', no matter the target.

I wonder if the ambassadors would care to address their own communities in Sweden, about the problems described here and further illustrated, here.

So much for 'Socialism's success in Scandinavia'... all Sweden has done is make themselves rudderless with the only hope in sight apparently being totalianarism by the left. Once the country is fully and completely Marxist, THEN we'll see a crackdown on thugs thieves and rapists.

Riyadh ul Haq, who supports armed jihad and preaches contempt for Jews, Christians and Hindus, is in line to become the spiritual leader of the Deobandi sect in Britain. The ultra-conservative movement, which gave birth to the Taleban in Afghanistan, now runs more than 600 of Britain’s 1,350 mosques, according to a police report seen by The Times.

The Times investigation casts serious doubts on government statements that foreign preachers are to blame for spreading the creed of radical Islam in Britain’s mosques and its policy of enouraging the recruitment of more “home-grown” preachers.

Read the comments... especially from the Islamist who claims this story wasnt 'balanced'... interesting since the Times writer said he couldnt get a response from one of those named. Also the comment from the person who apparently didnt realize this was going on. Evidently they wont read anything written by Melanie Phillips.

For a long time Muslims such as myself have contacted our government advising them to establish an educational program on Islam to enable the majority of everyday Muslims who do not subscribe to these 'stricter' and often mis representative interpretations of Islam. No response. If the government will not help everyday Muslims who do not actually hold these 'confused' values, how do they expect us to counter this negative influence which neither represents the teaching of Islam, nor the example of Prophet Muhammad? So again, I welcome dialogue with our government to help, empower the everyday Muslim with the knowledge that is required to counter the points of view put forward by such people.

As for deobanids vs barelwivs, one is just as bad as the other; labeling one strict and the other moderate simply reflects a failure to understanding the real issues facing the Muslim community today.

Well, I know why; because the moderates havent threatened to blow anything up. Sadly, the Qu'ran teaches... and there will be no dispute on this from any muslim... that you are not to accept teachings from outsiders.

Well I think that talk of such "protection" is ridiculous and absurd, and that what appears to be constant whining by many muslim’s in western nations is disgusting. When you emigrate you play by their rules and adjust to their society and norms, bottom line. I can see why one would be outraged by the "desecration of the Prophet Muhammad" as they say.

The Australian, a national daily newspaper, was not convinced, saying in an editorial that "the title [of the artwork] is enough to confirm that it was primarily conceived to generate a knee-jerk reaction, which it has successfully done."

Many of the scores of people posting comments on various Australian media websites voiced outrage at the artworks. And a number of commentators argued that Christians were an easy target.

"Why is it that these so-called artists seem to only pick on Christians when they want to make their 'confronting' works of art?" asked Bill Muehlenberg, who writes on religion, society and politics.

"Well, we all know the answer to that one," he said. "Christians are not going to issue fatwas against these self-important artistes. Christians will not issue death threats to these juvenile delinquents."

Columnist Andrew Bolt suggested that Bracks was cowardly to depict a Christian rather than a Muslim figure.

"If bin Laden is the creation -- or flip side -- of any religious figure, the most obvious candidate is surely Mohammed. But showing a jihad-preaching Mohammed morphing into bin Laden .... well, that could get an artist killed," he wrote in the Herald Sun, a Melbourne tabloid.

All good points in my opinion. So well the reaction in the Sweden case is ridiculous, I can see where the anger is coming from.
