Ohio State's schedule has been horrendous thus far (playing Youngstown State, Akron, and Kent State is embarrassing). Penn State is truly erratic, so I wouldn't be shocked by a OSU blowout, but a close game and even an upset seems more likely.

I was lucky enough to be in attendance the first ever time Penn State and Michigan played in 1993 in Happy Valley (my ex-girlfriend's Dad was a season ticket holder). The Stadium sits on a hill and practically shakes when the Nittany Lions do something. Great atmosphere, great tailgating.

I went to school at PSU and am a die hard fan. I remember being a kid and THAT was my dream school. Like some people who only dream of Harvard or West Point.

I remember my days at Penn State football games and all the good times.

But OSU is my #2 team and I would rather see them win the National title than to see PSU win. So I'm pretty much going to be both happy and sad by whatever outcome the game brings.

Oh and about the Big Ten being overrated. I know there is much rivalry between the different conferences, but the Big Ten has had potential National champs since I can remember. It's better off than those people who claim SEC football is the best there ever was, is, or will be.

But one of the reasons the Big Ten might have a potential National Champion is because the Big Ten lacks depth and outside of Michigan and maybe Wisconsin, there is no team in the conference the last few seasons that has even come close to challenings Michigan or Ohio State.

I live in Big Ten country myself and I will be the first to say that the SEC IS THE BEST CONFERENCE IN THE LAND....and trumps the Big Ten by a huge margin.

Hell, I would rank the SEC, Pac-10 and probably even the Big East ahead of the Big 10. Arguments could also be made that the Big 12 and the ACC are better than the Big 10.

The SEC in my opinion is the toughest Conference this year. I'm surprised at the Big East who I thought would fall off the map after VT and BC left, not to mention Miami. Still, I think the Big 10 is better than the Big East. Maybe not by much, but I do think it's better.

rcl19; Your Buckeyes are a good squad. Their blowout loss in the championship game certainly has them playing with a big chip on their shoulder, and looking at the teams they have left there is a good chance they go unbeaten. However, beating Washington in their house isn't that big of a deal since the Huskies are winless and tied for last in the Pac-10.

If the sun isn't shining on Bostonians enough. They have the Pats, Sox, KG and the Celtics can do damage in the east, along comes #2 ranked Boston College. Will be flipping the tv back and forth tonight when BC travels to Virginia Tech to see if the Eagles are for real.

Congrats Bostoncottage, for 46 minutes his Heisman hopes were being dashed in the rain. The Ryan (with help from the poor Va Tech kid who bungled the onside kick) makes a statement, looks like he'll be playing on Sundays and not just holding a clipboard.

I don't know Fog, I think you can sometimes learn more about a prospect by seeing how the kid reacts when things aren't going his way (I'd say he passed the test). You're right about never knowing, because Tom Brady was only a decent college QB, somebody you'd say would be fortunate to even hold a clipboard in the NFL.

    Petty,
Every scouting service has Ryan at the top of their QB ratings and he's projected as a high first round pick. Not exactly clipboard holding territory. That's for 3rd rounders like Troy Smith and Brodie Croyle. There are no guarantees, but I'd be willing to bet you a ticket to the Cottage that Ryan is a starter by 2009.

BC is on a role, but if you end up playing LSU or USC in a bowl you guys are going to get smacked around. The ACC is crap right now.

Ryan looks good though, at least at the end of the game anyway.
