Our injured captain

When I was watching Fox Football Fone in, Nick Webster stated that McBride had gone to see a doctor in the US. I believe it was the same one that works for the national team. Nick said he talked to the doctor and asked him about McBride, and he indicated that he thought he could be out for 5 months. I really hope he is wrong and Brian is able to surprise everyone with a quicker recovery.

 

I honestly believe that if ANYONE can pull off a quick recovery ... it is McBride. Hands down one of the toughest people I have ever met/seen.

looks like BigMac will only be out until Christmas....let's hope that's true!!!

 

as serious of an injury as this is....lets remember that it is not an ankle or achilles so this is an injury that he can recover from and still play at a high level. Kneecap dislocation will not effect his running or his shot capability like an ankle or achilles injury. BMac will be back!! Keep the faith my fellow fulhamers.

 

Close friend of mine is a senior physio - says it is very dependent on how soon and how well the dislocation is replaced but with not extensive damage it should heal in 3 months.

Downside is that most people don't go straight back on a Premiership pitch to test it out.

Not ashamed to say I cried my eyes out as he was stretchered off and the Northern Ireland fan next to me was sniffing a lot.

McBride Injury Latest

Short version: Had surgery performed in the U.S. after consultation with the USMNT's orthopedic specialist, returned to England to continue recovery, hoping to be back around Christmas.

 

i had this injury and had surgery in December of 1979. back then, knee surgery was much more intrusive and painful than it is now. my rehab took a long time for a couple of reasons, the main one being that i was 13 years old and still growing - which meant my knee joint and tendons/ligaments were naturally stretching and separating at the same time they were supposed to be growing back together and healing. also, back then i had a cast/brace for 8 weeks after surgery that kept my leg completely straight - which causes all kinds of muscle atropy. not to mention that i was 13 years old and what 13 year old wants to work as hard at rehab as he should? i know i didn't. i mean, it hurt worse than anything i had experienced in my short life and i didn't enjoy pain very much.

with today's advanced surgical and rehabilitation procedures - coupled with the fact that McBride is a finely tuned athlete (not to mention, one tough S.O.B) - i think he'll have no problem being back by the time Saint Nick pays all the good boys and girls a visit.

... and what a "gift" that will be for Fulham fans!!!
