Like everyone says, he needs it. I heard an interview with his former Derby manager, Billy Davies, and he said Feilhaber was 3-4 years away from being ready for EPL football.

Begging the question: Why TF did they buy him? To curry favor with potential American investors, perhaps?

well i suppose because Aarhus is far from EPL quality, and maybe they like potential. If I were going to attempt to gain favor with American investors by purchasing an American player, Feilhaber would not be my first choice, I would go for someone a little more established, a Twellman or Kenny Cooper. Someone I know would make an impact. If you bring in a player to make investors happy, they probably expect you to play him, and I'm not sure he's ready to be a consistent player with them. Then again my knowledge of Aarhus goes about as far as spelling their name.

Sorry for the confusion, Silas; I was referring to Derby's decision to sign a guy their gaffer didn't think was good enough. It was Derby who was reputed to be looking for US investors last season. I'm sure Benny will do better for Aarhus then he did either in Germany or England.

I saw this on the Yanks Abroad site as of 11/7/08:

"midfielder Benny Feilhaber is out through the remainder of 2008 in recovery from early-season knee surgery."

yeah, i read that too. It's a shame. Benny has gone from a guy that could possibly have been in the first XI in S. Africa to almost out of the picture. I would like to see Benny come back to MLS when he's fit and establish himself again. I just hope he doesn't turn into Bobby Convey who can't even make the substitutes list right now at Reading.

Bobby C. put on some weight when he was out injured. He didn't have the same pace as he did prior to his injury -- I think much of that was due to the extra pounds -- and loss of pace is death to a winger.

By all accounts, the major fitness problem with Benny has been the muscle between his ears. I'm thinking the younger Clint Mathis -- the John Daly of US soccer players -- is where Benny is at now.
