    Nor had I, that's why the Bacardi ref... but my younger bro, much more the drinker than I, asked if I'd ever drunk 'Rum 'n' Coke'.

    well.. for anyone in the service in the early sixties that seemed silly but he went in in 67 so I understood... {Rum and Coke went 'out' in the mid-late sixties, young'uns}

    I wasnt sure I'd still like it.

    Do! Still! Like! It! Or even more.

    You have to experiment of course to find just the right mix. But Cap'n Morgan is 'da bomb'!

    My youngest bro and my sis had never seen me looped and it'd been a LONG time since the older younger bro's had. They enjoyed it. And were disappointed when I didnt repeat the next day. Hangover was very mild, just as I recalled it was.

    Get off your foofy-pants high horse Don and try a Morgan and Coke. Ask a vet of the drink to make it for you. To me 'sterile' Coca-Cola works as well, but my t'buds are half-shot from coffee-sacharrin.

    I love the Gingerman. Such a laid back place with an excellent selection of tasty brews. The beer garden it hard to beat. That's cool you used to work there. I have met the owners (used to be Brock and somebody else) of St. Arnolds on several occasions. I actually had a party in their brewery with about 100 folks. I support them as much as possible. Gingerman is the only place in town I've seen a cask conditioned hand pump draft tap. I hear what you are saying about Lone Star, its pretty much crap. Only ICE cold out of a bucket in the summer, its the only way its drinkable.

    American bottled beer [as opposed to tasty beer] is best enjoyed with the ice-house experience -- that is, the beer bottles stand in a lead-lined box completely inundated in ice water. Unlike German or English or Belgian beer, our uniquely American stuff needs that kind of icing.

    HD agree, and you sometimes need to turn the bottles upside down before drinking as the portion left in the long neck may be above the ice line and thus gets a bit warmer. Can't have that.

    After the first time, you can turn the bottles upside down to facilitate drinking. It helps. Place back into the bucket to keep cold while you mosey back up to the juke box to play a bit more Willie or to the bathroom to drain your willy.

    For you Sierra Nevada fans out there, they have some tasty special brews available in bottles these days: Torpedo (IPA), E.S.B. (not bitter, but "early spring beer") and assorted Harvest ales. Not to mention a Pale Bock that I had on draft recently - nothing like a Sierra Nevada-tinged malt liquor.

    The beer thread lives on...

    Since we are talking beers I figure I would mention that the annual St. Louis Brewers heritage festival takes place this weekend. If you love beer it might be worth a road trip. The website is www.stlbrewfest.com
